Pepper The black-eyed female seemed as chipper as a pup bounding around; it was a bit of a relief to have someone besides herself emit such youthful energy. Pepper could often be described as a whelp in her frightful actions, but it seemed this new acquaintance shared some aspects of that personality. Or at least she seemed to. "Thank you."
Her expression of gratitude to the compliment was slightly more confident that the prior attempts. Neith gave the impression of a nice wolf, and Pepper already knew that Quartz was a trustworthy being. Thus it was a bit easier for the nervous canine to bare a less shaky demeanor. Yet, it seemed as soon as their meeting got under way it was ending. The creamy female seemed to be inclined on departing. Was it because of the skeleton's approach? The thought had her ducking slightly, but this motion of submission was interrupted by her companion's question of concern. Dull olive gaze flicked over to the obsidian huntress as words fluttered quickly across her tongue, "Oh, no, I'm fine! I just wanted to... talk I guess. We didn't get much of a chance after the bull elk."
Neith, whether she decided to hang about or slink off into the shadows, was forgotten in favor of Quartz. The light-coated wolf was free to make her own decision on the matter of leaving or not; Pepper wasn't one for weighing in on others choices. She could barely make her own so it was only natural.

Neith expressed that she was glad the two of them had found each other, and then offered to leave. That seemed…odd, to Quartz. These were her lands, after all. If it came to anyone leaving, it should be the other two, yes? Well, in any case, she dipped her head to the pale wolf. “I wouldn’t be so quick to leave two others alone on my lands, if I had any, but that is your call if that’s what you wish.” Why a field mouse, though? Surely there were rabbits or at least the occasional bird here? Slightly bigger prey that would do more to fill a belly? Meanwhile, Pepper assured her that she just wanted to talk. There was still a lingering part of her worried that something was wrong, but she nodded, gesturing back the way she’d come. It’d feel odd lingering in Neith’s lands if she was going to run off soon. Then she started walking, keeping her pace slow to make it easy to catch up. “Of course. What’s on your mind?” What would there be to talk about in a place like this? Well…plenty, actually. This was a place where they were all ripped from pack and family and meant to discover things about themselves that they may scarcely have imagined. What wasn’t there to talk about? After all, there was a reason her guide had said to meet others. Neith Zahrani Pepper

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","neith"] “I just meant if you have to talk about important things,” Neith supplied helpfully. She had noted the way Pepper seemed almost to deflate at her words, and Quartz’s additional commentary made it clear that whatever they meant to speak about was of no great interest. Boring, then. So while she did choose to step another pawstep away, it was only so she could settle back on her haunches, reclining amongst a patch of flowers that tickled her sides and bowed their heads obligingly with each rush of wind. Her gaze wandered, following the lines of the moorlands, the dips and curves and edges – not that the land was truly hers – but she held some kinship to it. So desolate, so empty. Dark shadows running every which way, if you only knew where to look. And the endless sky high above. As the pair slowly ambled off, Neith kept one ear cocked in their direction. She would listen for a few moments more, she decided. And if they had no good reason to be here then – then this was a waste of her time, and it might be time to once more descend into the lowlands. These fields would always wait for her – and she was confident that none would ever love them as she did. Too open, too little prey, too unsuited for wolves. But perfect for snakes.tags: @quartz, Pepperwords: 229 notes: sorry for the slow reply! i'll probs have neith drop out soon just b/c she has a date to get to lmao [newclass=.neith]max-height:400px;color:#E1DFD8;text-align:justify;padding:10px;width:440px;font-family:Open Sans;font-size:10px;overflow:auto;background:#000;opacity:.5[/newclass] [newclass=.neith b]font-family:montserrat;font-weight:700;color:#ab87db;font-size:12px;[/newclass] [newclass=.neith i]color:#fff; font: 11px Roboto; font-style: italic;[/newclass] [newclass=.neith::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #fff; width:1px; [/newclass] [newclass=.neith::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; height: 5px; background: #ccc; border: 3px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.neith::-webkit-scrollbar-corner]background: #ccc; border: 2px solid #ccc;[/newclass]

Pepper Once Pepper registered that her obsidian companion was taking slow steps away she was quick to hop on her paws and follow suit. Perhaps a perfect physical representation of what the scrawny wolf was - a follower. The salt-pepper canine was smart, incredibly so, but she needed someone to tell her what to do. A guide. This was most likely the reason why she got along with Morpheus so well to the point of seeing him as family. Thus it should be no surprise when her elongated gait fell in-line with the slow amble of Quartz.
Putting some distance between the duo and Neith was sort of a relief. She liked the creamy female, her nice facade mostly, but the black-eyed wolf was still very much a stranger. One could see Pepper visually loosen-up a bit as well as her fluffy tail bounce to-and-fro with each pace made. She didn't really have a plan on what to talk about, but subjects were plentiful enough to not matter much. It was just nice to talk to someone else for a change. "I was wondering how you're handling being here?...I mean...we're all here because of some divinity right? Are you...handling it okay? Being so," There was a pause as those dark clouds and fear-ridden vines coiled around the frail creature's heart. This feeling that was both her domain and damnation. "...alone."

Neith spoke, and she dipped her head to the other. They’d meet again, she was sure, and she certainly wouldn’t stop the other from following but she did want to see what was on Pepper’s mind. It could be important. Anything could, in this strange land. The skinny wolf followed her as she walked, and Quartz had to fight against increasing her pace. She wasn’t running from either wolf, after all. Maybe she wasn’t the most social of creatures, but she did want to be, and she cared about the salt-and-pepper female. How could she not, after they’d risked their lives together on more than one occasion? Pepper spoke, and Quartz’s ears flicked toward her. How was she handling being here? It was certainly an adjustment, but she considered, and she’d like to think she was doing reasonably well. So many hunts of so many unusual creatures, and her own abilities increasing to adapt…it was more than she would have expected of herself back in her old life. Then she asked about being alone. Quartz nodded, understanding now. It was an odd life here, how wolves could band together to hunt whether they knew each other or not and then part ways upon the completion of their task. Her mind went back to Oberon’s advice to her, the mental list he’d given her still in its incomplete state. But she could do something about it – was doing something about it now, in fact. Even if this didn’t go anywhere, interaction was enough, wasn’t it? And it wasn’t like there was a hurry. Besides, she did still retain sharp memories of her life before finding herself stranded on the beach. Maybe that felt like an eternity ago, and maybe she felt distant from it by this point, but that changed nothing. “Some of my siblings and I were sent away when my former pack’s lands became too scarce to sustain the entire family, and those siblings scattered to the winds. Whether here or there, I’d be alone. At least here, life has a purpose beyond seeking out an empty territory, and this land seems to hold more hope for making loneliness a temporary state.” She glanced over at her companion. “How about you?” As scared and starved as she often seemed, Quartz doubted her companion was thriving, but who knew? Maybe Pepper would surprise her. Neith Zahrani Pepper((Not a problem. <3 Sorry this took so long!))
