| "Ah a trickster god? I've heard talk of them, should've expected one to be capable of this. Should've believed in one inhabiting these lands as well anyways."
Malachi seemed to spit the words out derisively, partially at himself for not realizing the possibility of a trickster god roaming these parts, and partially at the God themself for doing this to him.
"For the sake of figuring this whole mess out, when did you start having your words twisted? Maybe we can pinpoint exactly when the curse was yanked over our heads, and through that who was the one to do it."
Thoughts of exacting vengeance on this god or whoever had cursed them rushed to his head, indignant rage seeming to fill out his malnourished form. | notes: n/a |

She nodded along as her companion spoke. At least she was taking her seriously. Didn’t mean she was happy about it, but Quartz wasn’t either. She couldn’t wait until her own ascension to godhood – she’d be setting any such gods straight as soon as she was good and able. Perhaps with Oberon’s help? He had been rather encouraging when they’d met, so she liked to think he’d back her up at least some of the time one she had power to actually do anything. Malachi asked when she’d started the singing, and she frowned. “A few days ago, though I remember not the time. I just know that’s the start of the rhyme.” Was it the same for Malachi? If it was all the same god, it might not necessarily be the same time when everyone was hit… Malachi

| "It seems that you've been under this curse longer than me. I had my normal body untill I woke up this morning, I suppose that isn't easy to curse many wolves at once anyway."
Malachi counted himself lucky that he hadn't been under this curse for as long as Quartz had. How many days more could he even go on staring at the wrong reflection anyway? Already he felt hugely disconnected from reality when he looked into a reflective surface.
"What if we called on our patrons for assistance? They may be able to better puzzle out the meaning behind this than the two of us could alone." | notes: n/a |

Malachi had only had to endure a new body for the day, it sounded like. She wasn’t the first cursed, was she? She wasn’t sure if she hoped for that or not. Whatever the case, as long as Malachi was willing to try to piece this together with her, she could hang around. Maybe they’d figure things out, and from there they could figure out how to reverse whatever’s happened. When the other wolf spoke again, it was to suggest they call on their guides. Quartz frowned in thought. They could do that, and that seemed to be wise. At the same time, though, the guides did have other wolves under their care, didn’t they? Would they have the time to come here specifically for this? Would they be bothered that they’d been called for this reason? It didn’t seem like either of them had a deadly change, after all… “It would be helpful to see this through their eyes, though I’m not sure that calling both would be wise…” she mused after a moment, still torn. Malachi ((Not sure if I should bring Oberon into this due to timeline snags and Ray’s general busyness, of late. ^.^; ))

| "To cause them ire would probably be unwise. I can call on my patron, as I'd been meaning to call on him either way. My patron tends to be more relaxed, so he'd most likely be willing to help us solve this riddle."
Malichi whuffed, shaking his fur out as he spoke. This seemed like a good enough idea. Morpheus seemed more experienced than he and even if he didn't know anything exactly he could most likely help in some way. | notes: Alright! |

She nodded as Malachi spoke. If he thought his own guide wouldn’t mind being interrupted with this, then he was welcome to try it. And perhaps her own would treat this situation with compassion, but both at the same time would mean pulling them away from wolves that had just arrived – wolves that would need help even more than the two of them currently did. Whatever annoyances they were going through, they at least knew enough about this land to survive in it. Newcomers weren’t so lucky. “I suppose we’ll have to wait and see if this can be solved with divinity.” She took a couple steps back, unsure of how to call any guide or god that wasn’t Oberon but wanting to give whatever room was needed.
