She’d never intended to come back to this spot, but she had asked for this mission, hadn’t she? Besides, she was a god now, and her powers had grown significantly since the last time she’d been here. She’d be fine. Perhaps she would have been, anyway – Neith didn’t seem like a bad wolf – but the way she was able to sneak up on Quartz even with Quartz’s magic identifying all life around her had unnerved her a bit. Or maybe more than a bit. Quartz squeezed her eyes shut and shook her head. She needed to focus! There was a lynx den to find and a skull to retrieve. She turned to her companions, checking up on each before she moved forward and keeping her divine senses on the alert for any other lives in the area. This was certainly going to be an interesting day, wasn’t it? ((Here goes nothing. ^.^; Shall I assume the midsummer stuff isn’t in effect for missions?)) Leyda Farstride Niamh

then came the night of the first falling star A god. A god. A god. A god. So this was what it meant to be a god. Quartz reeked of divinity - it spilled from her fur, from her lips, from the energy that was palpable even when it was not in use. It swarmed the deity; although Isme was not quite sure what she held dominion over of, Quartz was still an immensely powerful being - and it showed in the aura that surrounded her. The wolf was an unassuming creature; from her appearance you'd never have pegged her to be a deity, but here she was, and she was a god. She even glistened silver at her edges, emanating a soft sheen over her burnt fur.
Her ears flicked, seeking sounds that they should be wary of. Tail lay limply behind her legs as she followed the taller female. Isme found herself eyeballing her behind, watching the tail that swayed with the god's movement. A god. That could not be her fate too, and yet, it was. It was everything and more.
Ismene already found herself dreading the slow crawl of immortality. She knew it was going to be a lonely existence. She knew enough of time to think that immortality was more a burden than a blessing - for who would want to live on, unaging, while the world died around them? Dust to dust, and Isme found herself thinking that if she was going to be a god, then she would want to be the god of time. For time was a fickle being, and Isme wished not to be restrained by it.
Let's go, urged the girl. She turned to the other companion, who went by the name of Leyda. Huh. It was a lyrical-sounding word and quite melodic, and indeed nothing like Isme had ever heard before. The syllables were foreign to her. Quartz, at least, was an understandable kind of name, but Leyda struck no chord within her. Leyda Farstride. Leyda who walked much? Leyda.
Leyda and Quartz. And a lynx. Isme was not built for this. The sooner we're done, the better.

Leyda had to admit, she was impressed. It seemed that she and Quartz had walked through these lands for the same time yet the other had far surpassed her. After all, she reeked of divinity while Leyda had only one power to her name. In an odd way, Leyda was, almost proud of her. That left Ismene, an apparent newcomer to these lands. It was an interesting name, reminiscent of rolling hills and flower fields that stretched across them in her mind. That or Leyda just had an odd way of visualizing things.
Goodhood and names aside they had a mission, just getting a skull. It seemed simple enough, though was anything ever simple around here? Ah, regardless of any opposition they might meet Leyda figured she could just nullify it by calling them into sleep. It was a rather useful power she'd been bestowed with, though maybe she needed to try and push that to become greater. After all, singing everything into sleep wasn't that useful.
"Aye, let's be off then. Should we come across anything hostile leave it to me, I can take them out in a blink."

One of her companions – the one going by Ismene – urged them forward, stating that the sooner they were done the better. Leyda agreed, adding that she could take out anything hostile. She could agree to that – perhaps she’d ask for something a little harder for her next mission. Between Leyda’s sleeping power and Quartz’s ability to sense life and enhance herself and her companions, how difficult could this be? She was grateful for the opportunity, truly – she was always grateful for a way to prove herself – but she was eager to put this land behind her. She strode forward, focusing partly on the land ahead of her in an attempt to keep from stumbling and partly on her identifying power to try and sense lynx in particular, as well as any other danger she might be able to pick up. Prey would be ignored for now, though she might try for some hunting or something upon returning home. It all depended how this mission went. She could hope for ease and quickness in completing their objective, but that didn’t mean fate would give her what she wanted. ((So sorry for the wait, guys. >.<)) Leyda Farstride Niamh

Leyda trotted after Quartz, walking to the God's right side. It was an interesting bunch they had together. A God a yearling and a wanderer, like one of the old whelping den tales. Either way, this was fit to be an interesting venture. Though maybe there could've been a better location, these fields made her feel exposed, the sky too empty to be safe with no shelter anywhere to be seen around. It was unsettling, to say the least, and Leyda could gladly elaborate if you asked. "So Quartz, how have you been since the hunts? I haven't seen you around for a while though you seem to have accomplished much more than I in that time."The wolf whuffed, trying to alleviate the tension that knotted above her shoulders with some small talk. ISMENE NIAMH "So Quartz, how have you been since the hunts? I haven't seen you around for a while though you seem to have accomplished much more than I in that time."So they knew each other, however brief the encounter had been. Ismene's mind whirled through all the situations that could have brought them together - hunts, Farstride had mentioned. It was not plausible that they were packmates, no, for their scents did not overlap on each others' pelts, and if they were, then why would Farstride have been so removed from Quartz? Ah, Quartz too, was a curious name. The title given to a common mineral, a cold, unfeeling rock; so far away from the divinity that sprawled across Quartz's frame. And Farstride, Farstride was mortal. So Quartz had arrived when she was still under time's grasp, it seemed. Though she had attained immortality and slithered out from the restraints of time, it was comforting to know that she had once been able to bleed. Ismene listened with quiet attention, finding it unnecessary to speak. The woman, Farstride, herself, had implied that she and Quartz did not meet on the regular. Why would this be any different? Oh, making friends was a boon unto itself, but if Quartz had had enough time in between she and Farstride's encounters to become a god, then just how far apart had those encounters been? A noncommittal hum escaped her sealed lips, as she walked alongside them. She was slightly behind both, bringing up the rear in their little search party. Perhaps the older wolves would have more things to discuss - and she, she would only listen. "" OOC: Sorry to keep y'all waiting! TABLE BY LEE || IMAGE FROM JASON WONG ON UNSPLASH

Leyda asked how she’d been, and Quartz’s tailtip swished a couple times. “I’ve been well, if you factor out the curses of the last several weeks.” Forced singing, and then life as a small prey creature…some god or other had gotten several laughs out of her, she was sure. She was just glad to see it done and over with. “Yourself? As for progress, I got lucky. Life, it turns out, is quite the easy power to develop once you realize that’s what calls to you. Besides, at no time has any guide I’m aware of stated that we had to grow our divinity at a quick pace. There is time enough for everyone.” Though what the god bear said did bother her…she’d always meant to ask about that, but there hadn’t been the opportunity. Surely everyone with a good heart was worthy, and the bear was just trying to cause one last bout of chaos? But thoughts would linger at the back of her mind until she’d learned how truthful he’d been. Her other companion was quiet. Quartz glanced back to check on her, but she would let her keep her peace or speak as she felt comfortable. She didn’t know if that was just the nature of the younger wolf, or if it had anything to do with Quartz’s immortality. Being a god was new to her, too, and certainly an adjustment…she could understand any intimidation it may cause, but she was no different from the wolf she’d been. Not at her core. So far so good. Quartz continued keeping her senses on the alert. There were a couple lynxes in the distance, and that made her wonder if they were finally getting close. They could be avoided, but if they were near the den then Quartz didn’t wish to stray far. ((So sorry for the wait, guys. >.< Again...)) Leyda Farstride Niamh

At the mention of the curses Leyda scowled, that had been quite the time, one she was extremely glad to see off.
"Your calling seems a useful one at the least." Leyda hummed gently "I would wish that my calling was so easy to grasp. Something of the abstract always eludes me though I feel that I may be getting closer as the nights go by."
Leyda sighed gently as she walked when they had first met Morpheus had called her cousin and it seemed that they did, in fact, share some scrap of divinity within both of their souls. Still, it felt far like she was reaching for the sun, or racing after the moon. Always eternal in it's place, never closer, yet never further from her grasping paws. It would be a problem for later, maybe it wouldn't hurt to keep the thought in the back of her mind.

“I’ve been well, if you factor out the curses of the last several weeks. Yourself? As for progress, I got lucky. Life, it turns out, is quite the easy power to develop once you realize that’s what calls to you. Besides, at no time has any guide I’m aware of stated that we had to grow our divinity at a quick pace. There is time enough for everyone.”Time, thought Isme. Funny you should say that. She did not know how long it had been since she had met Asta, or Calliope - or perhaps she did somewhere buried inside her, some part that she did not wish to acknowledge. So there had been curses; quick as she had arrived at the conclusion of the perpetrator's identity, she left it, for as much as she disliked the god of trickery, she had no wish to witness further... encounters. Although she had a feeling that they would meet again, in the near future. It was no prediction - even if it was, Ismene had no inclinations towards fortune-telling - there was simply the thought that she would once again have to see the other god if she wanted to make any progress in this world. Even if there was a literal god several steps in front of her. Even if there was one half-there alongside the god. Even if said beings had any other information about the realm. Her thoughts soured; her face remained placid, even though she was brooding something awful. So Quartz was the god of life. "Your calling seems a useful one at the least. I would wish that my calling was so easy to grasp. Something of the abstract always eludes me though I feel that I may be getting closer as the nights go by."How curious. Farstride called (haha) it a 'calling'. Was it truly so simple, that they would be drawn to something in particular? Could it be that she would just... find her niche, over time? There was that word again, time. It always seemed to accompany her nowadays. Nights, Farstride said. Why not days? What was it about the night that sung to her so? She recalled something Farstride had also said not long ago. I can take them out in a blink. She was very confident, this wolf. The grass around Isme shifted some at her mood. She did not notice it - it was a tiny change, after all. Unbeknownst to her, the leaves grew a little taller, the colour a little duller, before they bent over, limp. Only the grass around her feet did so; and only a small change. As they walked, a slightly darker trail was left in her pawprints. Perhaps that could be attributed to her stepping on the grass. But as she had pondered the wolves' words, some... flickering spark had coursed through her. Ismene shook her head. It would pass, she was sure. Quartz was vigilant, now. Maybe they were nearing their destination. Isme did not move from her tail-position, but she readied herself for any possible confrontations that could occur. Here were three wolves. The number, always three. How interesting. @quartz Leyda Farstride

Quartz tilted her head as Leyda responded. “Yours seems at least as useful to me. Perhaps a bit harder to master, but I am sure it will all be worth it in the end.” A lot of good or harm could be done with Dream as an aspect, after all. She just hoped Leyda would be the type to choose to benefit those around or beneath her. Quartz had decided at the start of her own time here that she would be a barrier between evil and innocence, and she’d have to fight any wolf that might cause harm. They were getting closer to the lynxes. She studied them and the surrounding area, looking for any signs of a den entrance. She thought to improve their reflexes, but held off for now. If Leyda could put the lynxes to sleep, they might not need much in the way of other powers. By all rights, this quest should be an easy one. Leyda Farstride Niamh
