As the sun poked through the canopy of the Black Forest, Asta was on the move. It had only been a day since she had met with her guide but she was already going off to complete her quest. How hard could it be to meet some others, maybe talk a bit? Should be easy enough anyway once she got their attention an alluring voice and a damsel in distress act should reel someone in quick enough to fulfill her quest. Everybody wants to be a hero, and everybody loves a damsel in distress. It wouldn't hurt to make some contacts out here anyway.
Sitting herself down next to the softly glowing lights of the crystal and smoothed down any wayward fur with her paws. Putting on her best distressed face she stared into the dim light of the forest, calling out a soft "Hello? Is anyone out there? I'm so alone here."

then came the night of the first falling star”Hey,” said Isme. At first glance it would be almost impossible to spot her from the trees, for the shadows they cast were long, and their barks were so dark they might as well be black. But then, her silver eyes emerged from behind one of the thick trunks, and it was as if her shadowy figure was a little easier to pick out, as if one could take a claw and draw out her shape from amongst the shade. Her eyes pierced through the gloom and looked as if they might almost be glowing, set against the backdrop of brown tree and onyx fur. ”You don’t look very alone.” The yearling gestured to the crystal that glowed next to the snow-white stranger. She seemed almost to glow herself, white as the hidden clouds that drifted above them, and as pure to boot. And her eyes, one ice-blue and crystal clear, Isme might have mistaken it for the sky, if it ever froze over. The other, a striking pink. It seemed unnatural on her, too bright, too outstanding for her gleaming coat, but who was she to judge? They were lacking any sort of warmth and chilled the girl to the bone, through her wild, windswept fur. The woman's face was reflected in the crystal, a pale reflection of her already-pallid self. Ismene came out fully from behind her tree. Her movements were languid and relaxed, a far cry from the anger her supposed "guide" had elicited. It felt nice to be calm again, instead of silently fuming. She admitted to herself that the female didn't look very distressed either: her fur was pristine, and neatly kept. Every bit of her was elegant and smooth and it was hard for Isme to even believe that she was halfway lost, much less upset. She sat, a little away from the white-furred woman, and eyed her. She didn't look much of a snake, but then again, you never knew, especially not with gods. ! ASTA IJÚGA hope you don't mind me :-) |

Alya smiled a practiced expression that carried a soft warmth to it. In all honesty, she hadn't expected a yearling to be out on their own out here, but what would she know about this place anyways. If there were yearlings abound that could mean that there was a pack out here, something that would most definitely benefit herself. "Crystals aren't the world's best company, as pretty as they are." The white wolf whuffed "Either way, it's awfully empty out here, you'd be the first wolf I've seen in days."Was that a tiny fib? Ehh yes. Besides, a God didn't truly count as a wolf, more as something other so really it was the truth. Asta had a way of bending things into shapes that suited her, and it had just become second nature for these little fibs to just fall out of her mouth. It wasn't like anyone would be able to notice anyway. NiamhAyy no worries! |

ISMENE NIAMH You do not smile very prettily, she wanted to say, but it was not true and Ismene knew it. The woman smiled with practised ease; it was warm, and welcoming, and despite her best efforts Isme felt a slight stirring in her breast. There was the instinctual childhood grasp for warmth, and the kindness in the woman's smile offered it all and more. Something broke within the girl, and she craved it, and her tail flicked once, even though nothing else moved very much. Bird-bright eyes stared straight at the white witch, seemed to look through her even, and then Isme turned her gaze away. "Crystals aren't the world's best company, as pretty as they are. Either way, it's awfully empty out here, you'd be the first wolf I've seen in days."Her smile was almost enough to cover up the way the woman's gaze shifted slightly, or how the words didn't sit right with her. Within the first minutes of her arrival the girl had come face to face with Calliope ( spawn of... whatever it was); and she'd encountered this snowy wolf, who looked as if butter wouldn't melt on her tongue. Her words seemed to fine, too good, too well-crafted - and perhaps it was this, or perhaps it was the way that Isme picked up on her minute motions that told her something was off. But what harm could it do? Isme let herself instead be immersed in the comfort of the woman's smile, choosing to ignore the curling in her gut. It had been so long since warmth. Liar, something within her whispered, but Isme let it be. "Good for you I came along then," she said, perfectly well-meaning. Maned-wolf-figure eyed the crystal, softly glowing. If one thing chewed at her gut it was Ismene's eyes, piercing were they like they searched and found wanting. It did not make her uncomfortable, per say, but she knew to keep her guard up with this one. When your food and bed depended on a silver tongue, sharp eyes like those did nothing but cause harm. Though with those eyes set in the skull of such youth they didn't seem much of a danger, for while the young could often see with more clarity than the old, understanding was a whole different thing. Asta was a capable wolf through and through, this youngling posed no danger to her. Maybe instead of a threat, she could be a fledgling to take under her wing, a spiritual successor to guide and teach in her ways. After all, it was a cruel, cruel world out there. Who better to know than the cruel themselves anyways? "My name is Asta, and it would've been quite a shame to be bored to death." The white-pelted wolf whuffed kindly, satisfaction blooming in her chest at how Ismene seemed to be coming around "What would your name be? Seeing as you know mine now I ought to know yours."Niamh |

Something deeper about the woman threw her off, but there was not much that names could do, when not combined with other magic. Magic. How long had it been here before she had started thinking of magic as a normal thing? Asta. It was an interesting family-name, if any, and it led Isme to thinking about what kind of personal-name the woman might bear herself. It sounded almost starry, like the woman's name had been plucked from the heavens - and by the look of the white coat she possessed, it might not have been far from the truth. Ismene turned her head so that she might stare Asta straight in the eye as she spoke her own name, her family-name, the name all others knew her by. "Notice anything?" continued Ismene then, "Any... weird sensitivities since entering this realm or wherever we are?" For she was all too aware now of how time ticked by her, like grains trickling down an hourglass. She was aware of the way it ebbed and flowed, of the hours left in the day, and of the amount of time she'd spent in a particular place. She was aware, she noticed, of the rhythmic pulsing of time as it went by and it intrigued and puzzled her to no end. "" OOC: |

"Nimah," Asta mused, cementing the name into her memory. It was an interesting name to be sure, though it left her wondering whether that was the only name attached to herself. The mention of sensitivities though, that was an interesting one. She herself had become aware of the smell of divinity, or more aptly the smell of something other, something that clung heavily to the coat of the God she had met, and something that oh so faintly clung to the coat of the wolf in front of her. It was, intriguing, to say the least how you could so easily sense the divinity in this place. "I cannot say that I have noticed a sensitivity, but more of a scent, clinging to the pelts of beings more than us."Niamh

ISMENE NIAMH Asta's musings gave the girl something to pick up on. She focussed a little, trying to accomplish what the white witch had done, trying to latch onto the latent divinity that lay dormant within her, within both of them. And yet there was nothing she could truly feel, no muddied notion of what was supposed to be infant godhood. There was nothing she could feel, and perhaps that was due to the fact that it was within all of them, and so it had become inherent to her, and there would have to be sufficient difference to tell apart. Perhaps Asta was just more inclined to these things than Ismene was, and if so, she didn't mind that much. For what use was it in a realm where divinity was innate to all of them and there was no real use for it? "You are gifted, Asta." The girl gestured then to the air around them, as substitute for her next subject. "I am merely aware of the slow crawl of time." And indeed she was, for when an hour had passed, she knew, and how much more time there was until the sun began to brush against the horizon, she knew, and even when nightfall would be upon them and the stars set in the sky, she knew. It was not a knowledge that was tangible, nor one that she could actively call on, and it had come onto her as suddenly as she had been thrust into this place. "An intimate knowledge of time seems more useful than either of us could know, Nimah" Asta whuffed thoughtfully, regarding Nimah with a gentle gaze. To have dominion over time, now that was something truly powerful. It seemed that it was only in its early stages with the yearling as the smell of divinity only barely clinging to her pelt. Surely she would make a powerful ally in the moons to come if Asta could get her on her side. "My guide? Ah, the one with the coat of white, God of Dreams." The white wolf replied, a grin crossing her muzzle at the thought of him. Ah, how he had seemed to flee from their encounter! What a shame he didn't have more backbone or else he could've been a worthy partner should she have managed to get him on her side "Who greeted you to these lands?"Niamh

ISMENE NIAMH "An intimate knowledge of time seems more useful than either of us could know, Nimah," said Asta with all the gentleness Ismene supposed one of her age would be able to muster. Asta was a developed woman, not quite in her prime, but not elderly just yet. There was within her a small swelling of that which wished to know how Asta's weathered visage would age with time, but she could not quite imagine it. As of now her face was remarkably pristine, showing no signs of aging except for the minute places her fur would fall heavier in, or the fuller flesh of her muzzle. And Ismene wondered if Asta's face would be pliant in time's grasp, pliant as her wisdom was, for her words, though sweet, were edged with a degree of truth that Isme could not deny. So it was. She allowed the mispronunciation of her name to slip past her, for such things were petty quarrels and there were greater matters to be talked about. Doubtless, it planted a tiny seed of annoyance in her breast; the girl could not help but feel a little irked, though she did not let this irritation reveal itself. With enough negligence, it would dissipate soon enough. "You may be right," she hummed, and said nothing more of the topic. "...the one with the coat of white, God of Dreams." A brief flash of something darkened Ismene's already-pitch features, indiscernible in the less than a second it took to bridge the distance. "You are a fortunate woman." Yes, fortunate indeed, thought the black-furred wolf sourly, for there were few things that displeased her and she had, within moments of her arrival, found one more to append to that list. But, for a trickster god, she supposed, being a general nuisance was one of her specialties. "Who greeted you to these lands?"A bitch, she wanted to say, but held her tongue. Who knew when and where the god was? One could never be too careful. "...a god of trickery." And a god of trickery she had been, even in crocodile skin and bones. The very mention of her name in memory made the girl's gut curl in distaste; she wanted very much to hurl. "What is his name? Your guide.""Have you developed any magic? Powers?
