All relationships, at their core, are built off a reciprocal need that the other person fulfills, and there's no point in expending effort to cover that up. Those who work hard at being amiable and well-liked are fooling nobody but themselves by acting as if they're not simply using the other person for their personal gain. Calliope will never have friends, but she is more than willing to settle for tools.

As a guide, Calliope greets newcomers and guides them through the process of nurturing their powers and entering the realm of the gods. Though she is hardly a helpful adviser (with her roundabout words and scheming ways) she is still willing to help mortals unlock their magic because of two reasons. The first is her own entertainment. The second is so she'll have an army of loyal subjects to command if she needs to. Ideally, those who are most complacent or most willing to align themselves with her will become her closest companions. But, even they are held at a careful distance away, and a single mistake promises abandonment.
FRIENDS

Calliope certainly hasn't lived this long and possessed such an abrasive personality to not have enemies. In the past, she'd built up quite a few, but has always managed to outwit them with her illusions until they passed away, forgotten with the turning of time. Now, however, she's out to make new ones. Haughty and without restraint, Calliope has no qualms about goading others and angering them just to pass the time, and she cares so little for others' opinions that, even if she was confronted or attacked for her rash behavior, it would hardly be enough for her to change her mindset.
LOVERS
Calliope approaches romance like she does friendship, in that she doesn't believe in it nor respects those who do. In her world, there is no such thing as love, but she is aware that not everyone shares her ideology. Sometimes, acting beguiling may afford her the upper hand, some power she may not have held prior, and she has absolutely not qualms about leading someone on only because she wishes to gain something from keeping them around. And, when she has finished with them, it is of little concern to her what state she leaves them in.

While his mother has since passed, he maintains his status as a loner because of the negative experiences he's had with other packs, and also because he has been searching for his lost father.

Though Caspian may come off as rough or callous initially, it is entirely due to the fact that his mother always spoke bluntly, and he was never introduced to a softer style of conversation. A lot of innuendos or thinly veiled implications will also fly over his head. But, while finding his father takes precedent over everything else, a small part of Caspian longs for intimacy. His time with his pack may have come to a screeching halt, but he cannot deny the warmth of having a family to rely on, or even just a single friend to look out for.

Because Caspian has spent most of life alone, he has given romance very little thought. And, as a result, it is highly unlikely for him to make the first move on anyone, as he will very likely be unable to understand or place any romantic emotions. In order to him to actually come to realize that he has fallen in love with someone, he will definitely need to be long-time friends with them beforehand. From there, he'll start to become more protective and caring, and will eventually have to face the fact that he feels more strongly for them than he has anyone else, his mother included.
