IMPERIA DELACROIX.
Actions. "Speach." 'Thoughts' Pain. A deep, throbbing, agonizing pain that pulsed along with each and every heartbeat.
It had consumed her paws first, their delicate pads not used to the rough terrain beyond her home’s borders. Then, it spread to her overworked legs, the well-defined muscles screaming for relief as she pushed them well beyond their limit, refusing to stop or even slow down. Then, her lungs, the rest of her body, and finally, as she collapsed to the ground from overexertion, panting heavily with tears still wetting the fur on her face… the pain spread to her brain, the stress of everything that had happened quickly enveloping Imperia’s mind and coiling itself around her subconscious as she slipped into slumber.
Images and sounds from the day prior would haunt her dreams like vengeful spirits…
‘The King has been killed!’
‘It was that newcomer- I knew we shouldn’t have trusted him!’
‘Where is he?! Where is the murderer?! Guards, go, find him!’
‘Imperia, Princess Imperia, are you alright? Say something dear!’
‘Quickly now, the inauguration, she must take his place before our enemies learn of what happened here!’
‘You know what to say, yes? Good. He trained you for this moment after all.’
‘Queen Imperia, there are several things that need you attention- the nobleman are quarreling about all that’s happened, you’ll need to calm them, assert yourself as the leader. We also need to do sweeps of the borders, double the number of guards, comb through our ranks for any more suspicious figures-’
‘Imperia…? IMPERIA-!’
A gasp. A great, mighty inhale of surprise, struggling for air as if she’d been drowning.
The young she-wolf sat bolt-upright, abruptly forcing herself into a sitting position and looking all around with wide, wild eyes, chest and sides heaving and tongue slipping out into a heavy pant. Everything had come back to her so… so clearly, so vividly! Like it’d all just happened and she hadn’t ran at all! Wait… had she ran? Peach colored orbs swiftly and warily scanned her surroundings, checking to ensure this wasn’t the main densite of her home or any other place within the territory she would recognize. No… no, she wasn’t home… she had definitely ran away, that much hadn’t been a dream… and now, fully awake and no longer numbed by the shock wave of adrenaline that hit her when she first got up, a pain filled grimace twisted her well-bred features as the aches of her tired, overexerted muscles and blistered paws became extremely apparent.
Then, the stress induced headache, and soon, a heavy sense of loss and grief… everything she’d been running from, plus the consequences of said running, all slowly creeping up to possess her mind, body, and soul. She looked down at her paws, noted the cold chill of the night air, and all-in-all, felt abysmally… alone… and lost…
Wait.
Suddenly, the girl’s head jerked up and she looked all around again, eyes once more wide with alarm and sore muscles tensing.
Where… where was she…?! This… this wasn’t where she’d collapsed…! Or was it? Had she been so blinding by the need for rest and the tears in her eyes that she hadn’t properly observed where she was…?
A chill slowly crept down Imperia’s spine as she whipped her head to and fro, looking all around as if in search of answers, but frightened to find there was no one to give them to her.
She was alone, without a plan and with no idea of where she even was. What on earth had she been thinking?! Tags

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","fairyking"] This was the third intruder in a row that Oberon was about to meet, and he was definitely convinced that the calling was well underway now. But, different from the previous two he had just fielded, this one's aura vibrated with unmistakable anxiety and fear. Most mortals did react with disorientation and panic to a certain degree, but this one's signature spiked with terror, so the Guide made it a point to hurry himself along. Tapping into the earth he found her in the Black Forest, so he reached out and focused on her energy, allowing the earth to bring him to where she was.
Darkness engulfed him for a long heartbeat before his eyes adjusted to the low light of the Forest, only aware that it was in fact day (or whatever passed for day, in this plane) in the mortal realm from having been elsewhere moments before. He had tried to place himself out of the newcomer's immediate sight, lest his sudden appearance scare her further. If he was to offer guidance, it would be best to approach her naturally and be as unthreatening as a large figure like him possibly could.
Pressing onward through the thickly clustered trees, he could just about hear the mortal's worried breathing. The Guide finally emerged from between the shadowy trees a little ways before the slender wolf, attempting to project an aura of calmness. He was a god, but he wasn't that kind of omnipotent all-powerful God, and hence could not influence her mood in some supernatural way any more than a regular wolf could. He made sure to rustle his paws a little through the leaf litter too, so as not to startle her by appearing out of the darkness and having his glowing orange eyes be the first thing to herald his presence.
"Do not be afraid," he ventured, making his low voice as gentle as possible. "You are not alone." He wondered what sort of circumstance had occured prior to his arrival, to throw her into such despair. Surely this level of unease could not have been caused just by being called to this realm. IMPERIA DELACROIX.
Actions. "Speach." 'Thoughts' Lost in the flurry of her thoughts and emotions, the softly approaching pawsteps and the sounds of disturbed leaves and vegetation that came with them nearly went unnoticed by the girl, Imperia only flicking a ear in their direction, for her attention was focused on seemingly more important things. Then, once she saw the movement out of the corner of her eyes, she was quick to whip her head around and get a good, wide-eyed look at it’s source… and her heart seemed to stop.
A large, imposing figure came melting out of the shadows, their pelt so dark that they seemed made to be made of the darkness, like some malevolent spirit. Serving as a sharp, frightening contrast were two vivid orange eyes, reminding her of flickering embers glowing through a heavy haze of smoke. The figure was steadily moving towards her, causing the she-wolf to jump to her paws and take an apprehensive step back, guard hairs rising, teeth flashing, and ears pushing forward, though her tense body still trembled with uncertainty and fear. Her eyes rapidly darted from feature to feature and her nostrils intensely flared, both senses working hard to steal information from the stranger long before they gave it. Who was this? What was this? Could he be the reason she ended up here? Had he… kidnapped her?! Was he an enemy to her pack that had tracked her down after she ran?! All of these thoughts, in addition to her situation and his demon-esque appearance, did absolutely nothing to calm the she-wolf…
“Do not be afraid. You are not alone.”
The newcomer’s voice was deep but gentle; reassuring and unimposing, unlike his massive size. Though the tone was briefly noted, it was quickly forgotten, disregarded by her heightened state of alarm. She wanted answers, not silver tongues.
“Well I can see that!” She loudly snapped, fear-fueled anger edging her venomous words. “And I’ll choose whether or not I want to be afraid, thank you very much!”
She puffed out her chest and eyed him with an intense glare for a moment before looking around once more, as if anticipating there to be others, some kind of nasty trick up his sleeve.
A suspicious brow was quirked in his direction.
“Who are you… and where am I? How did I get here?” The accusation in her voice suggested she believed him to know full well how she'd gotten here. aah, your good! i wrote that post at like 3 am lmao

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","fairyking"] Clearly Oberon's efforts to assuage the newcomer's fears were having the opposite effect. The female leapt to her feet with her hackles bristling at the Guide's approach, her breath coming in nervous pants, and her response to his attempt at offering some some calming words was sharp and angry.
"I'll choose whether or not I want to be afraid, thank you very much!" Despite the tension in her voice, her choice of words amused him, and Oberon had to make an effort to keep his features neutral and refrain from making some form of smart answer. Her fiery outburst spoke of a headstrong personality, and perhaps that would serve her well in her journey ahead. If she could overcome her temper, perhaps. She fixed him with a brief stare that would likely have other mortals quivering, before glancing about apprehensively.
"Who are you... and where am I? How did I get here?" she demanded then, and that was something Oberon could respond to. "I am Oberon, and you are in the Black Forest," he answered kindly, hoping that despite what her demeanour seemed to say about her personality, the mortal would be receptive to his information. "The godhood that lies within you was drawn to this realm," he continued. "This is a land of gods, and I am one of them. My role is to guide you on your path to become what you were destined to be."
He wondered if this newcomer would be one of those that immediately wanted to go back, if she had left family and friends and future behind. Or was she one of those loner types who weathered the transplant the same way a hermit crab starts moving as soon as its little shell stops being buffeted by waves? Oberon's memories of his own calling were foggy, but he was almost sure that he himself had been quite distraught for a significant period of time. It would be important that his new charge adjusted as well as she could, and as a Guide he felt honor-bound to ensuring that to the best of his abilities. Even though it would likely be an uphill battle with this one, he thought. IMPERIA DELACROIX. Actions. "Speach." 'Thoughts' Oberon. At once, the fiery girl began searching her mind for any information she knew to be attached to such a name, like if she’d once heard one of the guards or her father bringing it up in conversation, preferably under the context of him being deemed a threat to look out for. It did sound sighly familiar, though she couldn’t quite place how, and this was already grounds for more concern, as if she needed any… Granted, if he really was an enemy to her pack, she doubted he would give his actual name… Either way, whether she thought she knew him or not, she would treat him as a potential threat regardless.
As for him referring to this area as the Black Forest, her narrowed gaze glanced around again before the she-wolf emitted a quiet scoff of disbelief. Oh, how creative… Yes, of course this was the “black forest”. Pft. She’d never even heard of such a place.
Despite Imperia being overly wary of the situation and not trusting a single syllable that fell from the imposing stranger’s lips… she did continue to observe his kind nature, the fact that he was going out of his way to appear amiable and approachable. If he did have any ill intentions, he was quite good at hiding them, and had they been meeting other different, more favorable circumstances, with a guard or two at her side to keep her safe… she might have dialed her fiery personality down a bit in order to honor such friendliness… but no, not here, not now, where, for all she knew, her abrasive personality could be the only thing staying his fangs and convincing him to keep his distance. Better safe than sorry, after all.
Then… in response to her question of how she’d gotten here, the last question he had to answer… the man seemed to start spouting complete and utter nonsense. He went on about her “godhood” drawing her to “this realm” which was apparently the “land of the gods”, of which he was apparently one. He concluded by saying his “role” was to “guide her on the path” to become “what she was destined to be”. All of it earned a look from the girl that clearly showed she thought him to either be completely out of his mind, or a figment of her imagination altogether. Both of those things were easier to believe than her being in some “realm of the gods”.
Turning his words over and over again in his head, listening to them on repeat for several more times as if that’d make them easier to digest, a look of cruel, disbelieving amusement twisted her face, creating an uncomfortable smile and knitting brows.
"Have you been eating poisonous mushrooms, or am I dreaming?” She looked around again (something she apparently liked to do), observing the “black forest” under the new assumption that she must still be asleep, therefore thinking if she squinted hard enough, things would start to fade out of reality. They didn’t, but that wasn’t enough to convince her this was real.
Laughing and shaking her head, she continued. “I must be dreaming.” lol, it's okay; i'm used to waiting much longer, believe me ^^

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","fairyking"] Ah, so this one was to be one of those disbelievers. Her lips curled into a nasty, mocking grin, even as her light eyes narrowed under a frown. The Guide definitely preferred more trusting individuals, but it was unfair to expect all newcomers to accept their situation as truth from the get-go. After all, being thrust into a completely different dimension where a big black shaggy creature tells you you are a god was pretty ridiculous in the context of a mortal existence. Why believe in the existence of gods or a god-realm at all, past the propensity of a certain fraction to find a sense of security and protection in the notion of there being higher powers? Gods had not appeared to mortals for many an age now. Still, as always, he would try to make her see - as was his duty.
"Have you been eating poisonous mushrooms, or am I dreaming?" Her voice rang out with incredulity in the heavy silence of the forest as she cast her pale gaze around at the thickly crowded trees. "I must be dreaming." Oberon allowed the corner of his mouth to quirk in a wry smile, making it a point to lower his great body to his haunches to further indicate he had no desire to attack her, or cause injury in any way.
"If I am but a dream, you need only wish me away, no?" That was usually the case with dreams. Once a dreamer is made aware of their slumbering state, the dream becomes available for them to manipulate in any way. Oberon had had his own share of lucid dreams in his time, but it was almost as if once he became aware of the fact that his body was asleep, his subconsciousness turned hostile and began to force him out. Perhaps there might even be a god out there who had the ability to move through their dreams consciously and freely every night. Powers were not only confined to material elements, after all.
"Take your time, newcomer. I can wait. I am here to guide you," he repeated, allowing his tail to sweep across the leaf litter in slow, broad strokes. There was little in the way of loose stones and rocks in the relatively level-terrained Forest, but the Guide reached out with his earth sense anyway, combing through the vicinity. Ever so imperceptibly, the softest rustle of things shifting over leaves could be heard if one strained their ears, and a scattering of small, angular rocks began to trickle in between the trees. [newclass=.fairyking]height:435px;background-color:#000;color:#fff;opacity:.5;margin-top:10px;text-align:justify;padding:15px;width:420px;font-family:Open Sans;font-size:10px;overflow:auto;[/newclass] [newclass=.fairyking b]font-family:montserrat;font-weight:900;color:#ac5d1d;font-size:12px;[/newclass] [newclass=.fairyking i]color: #eb771d; font: 11px Roboto; font-style: italic;[/newclass] [newclass=.fairyking::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #2A2A2A; width:1px; [/newclass] [newclass=.fairyking::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; height: 5px; background: #ccc; border: 3px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.fairyking::-webkit-scrollbar-corner]background: #ccc; border: 2px solid #ccc;[/newclass] [googlefont=Open+Sans]

IMPERIA DELACROIX. Actions. "Speach." 'Thoughts' The young she-wolf pursed her lips and eyed the large male up and down as he stiffly smiled and lowered his rear to the grass, seemingly yet another gesture that his intentions were helpful, not hurtful. Though Imperia herself did little to change her own body language… she was starting to feel just a little less wary - just a little - and reflected this by at least smoothing down her guard hairs.
"If I am but a dream, you need only wish me away, no?"
Fair point. If she was dreaming, and knew herself to be dreaming, then she ought to have full control over this situation… Ought to be able to blink this stranger out of existence if she so chose. Furthermore, as she’d previously just tested, if she knew she was dreaming, then the imagined world around her should start to shift and reflect her awareness of it being fake… yet nothing changed. She had already looked around in search of a blurry, shifting landscape, but everything remained crisp, clear… and very much real. It didn’t just look real either, it also felt real- the wind at her back, the dewdrop ladden grass tickling her paws, the heavy chill that came from being in a well shaded area… all of it was simply too accurate to just be a mind simulation…
Of course, realizing this couldn’t be a dream did little to comfort her, as the “reality” this stranger was trying to paint for her was still far too difficult to believe… but she could think of no other explanation for falling asleep in one place and waking up somewhere completely different… Confusion swam in her mind and brought up a second, less defensive wave of panic that she attempted to push down with a hard swallow, ears falling back against her skull and eyes cast downward whilst she struggled for an explanation.
“Maybe it’s not a dream, but a nightmare...” Nightmares weren’t so easily controlled, after all… yet even as she mumbled this, she knew it probably wasn’t any more plausible than it being a dream…
"Take your time, newcomer. I can wait. I am here to guide you,"
‘Guide me?’ She thought. ‘Guide me to what? What… what even is all of this…?’
After a pause, she looked back up to him with furrowed brows and questioning eyes, her mouth opening as if to speak, but gently shutting, for she clearly didn’t have the words yet.
Then, as she was struggling to put her swarming, dizzying thoughts into a proper inquiry, she flicked her ears to the sound of gentle rustling and shifting, drawing her attention away from his face and towards the area surrounding them… She could see small, angular little things edging towards her in the darkness of the Black Forest, causing her to take a wary step back, but when she turned to look behind her, they came from that direction as well… It took her a few moments of confused squinting to realize they were not rats or bugs or something sensible like that, but… rocks… Rocks were moving towards her, and… seemingly of their own will.
’Maybe I have been eating poisonous mushrooms!’ She thought incredulously, now starting to wonder if this was real life but with her some how hallucinating things that weren’t there, that couldn’t be there…
She turned back to Oberon, observed his calm, unphased expression, like this wasn’t strange at all, looked back to the rocks, and back to him. “The… The rocks, they’re…” Again, her words failed.
“Do you… do you see them?”
Yes hallucination, do you see these other hallucinations?

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","fairyking"] Oberon could sense the female's hostility slowly bleeding away, replacing itself with a growing sense of bewilderment. "Maybe it's not a dream, but a nightmare..." Her voice shook with tangible confusion as her defensive posture slowly dissolved, her ears pressing back and her piercing gaze sliding away from Oberon's face to stare at the ground. With her aggression melting away, it was easier for Oberon to learn a little more about her - though she had been outwardly antagonistic upon meeting him, the fact that she had not immediately attacked hinted that she had at least some form of a good upbringing and had a good head on her shoulders, despite her fiery personality. He wondered if that blazing intensity had anything to do with her powers - some wolves were more visibly affected by the inclination of their divinity than others, and perhaps she was one of them.
Then she began to notice the little rocks he had summoned starting to gather around them, and the Guide watched a faint veil of alarm pass over her features as her senses began to inform her of a situation that, by all forms of logical reasoning, should not be happening. Should not be able to happen. The female glanced about at them for a panicked moment before looking back at him, at which he matched her gaze with a serene look of his own.
"The… The rocks, they’re…" she stammered, stumbling over her words. Was this the moment at which she was beginning to believe? "Do you... do you see them?" Her words implored. Oberon allowed a comfortable smile to spread across his face, though not quite so wide as to seem facetious.
"I do see them," the Guide uttered, allowing his voice to rumble deeper, like the sound of massive stones moving against each other deep under the earth. Meanwhile, the little rocks on the surface stopped in their tracks, arranged perfectly and evenly around them in concentric rings that arced around them, between and past the trees until they disappeared into the distant darkness.
"In fact, I have called them to help you see. I am a God of Earth, you understand." He drummed the digits on his forepaws, and with the movement, each small rock shivered in its place. "Long ago I was summoned, as you have been. I have been on my journey, and I will help you with yours. This is the purpose I have been given now." [newclass=.fairyking]height:435px;background-color:#000;color:#fff;opacity:.5;margin-top:10px;text-align:justify;padding:15px;width:420px;font-family:Open Sans;font-size:10px;overflow:auto;[/newclass] [newclass=.fairyking b]font-family:montserrat;font-weight:900;color:#ac5d1d;font-size:12px;[/newclass] [newclass=.fairyking i]color: #eb771d; font: 11px Roboto; font-style: italic;[/newclass] [newclass=.fairyking::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #2A2A2A; width:1px; [/newclass] [newclass=.fairyking::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; height: 5px; background: #ccc; border: 3px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.fairyking::-webkit-scrollbar-corner]background: #ccc; border: 2px solid #ccc;[/newclass] [googlefont=Open+Sans]

IMPERIA DELACROIX. Actions. "Speach." 'Thoughts' "I do see them," came the dark male’s reassuring reply, his tone and expression that of patience and calmness, a gentle smile even appearing on his face whilst he spoke. Once more, as she turned away from him to peer at the rocks yet again, the fiery girl found herself at a complete loss for words, lower jaw still wavering as if to speak but not even uttering so much as a single syllable. It was all… so much…
Even if this was some form of… strange hallucination… why? Why would she even be hallucinating? She wasn’t sleep deprived, nor malnourished or ill. Could stress be the cause…? And even then, if this was imaginary… Why would she be imagining this: some tall dark stranger coming to her in the night (or a dark forest like the night), moving a few rocks around, claiming her to be a God and seeking to guide her along that path? Maybe it was grief… Maybe it was because she missed her father and felt so terribly lost that her mind simply created someone to take his place in giving her guidance… and maybe the whole God thing was her guilt speaking, the guilt of abandoning an entire kingdom when it needed her most, so it made up some big and crazy concept of her now having to become a “God” so she could… make up for it. It was all so very far fetched yes, but this entire scenario was farfetched, and she’d go to whatever length she could to view it in a way that would make sense…
Her eyes caught one of the rocks nearest to her and her gaze quickly intensified, staring at the piece of rubble so intensely that it could practically catch on fire. As with the forest when she’d thought it was all just a dream, the rock’s image didn’t waver; it held true and strong, looking as real as her own nose before her… However...
Brows slowly knitting as she struggled to understand, she turned her body completely towards it and warily approached, then lifted a paw and gingerly pressed her toes to its smooth and cool surface, checking to make sure it wasn’t just some mirage. A slow and somewhat shaky inhale of air then ensued, her eyelids fluttering at the realization this rock was real… That its textures and coolness were simply too accurate to write off… and something just seemed to finally… click. Was it all really real? Heat burned her cheeks and ears as she then turned back to Oberon, far too aware of how silly she must look, getting this worked up over a stupid rock and over this reality he knew to be real, but she still very much doubted… Why, she must look like a pup leaving the den to investigate snow for the first time! She knit her brows helplessly in his direction and eagerly listened to his explanation, desperately drinking in the information he provided like a thirsty desert traveler would water.
With the drumming of his toes and the moving of the rocks, she would whip her back back down to peer at each one, then slowly drag her gaze back to Oberon as he spoke. The way he put it, it seemed this was… common. That - if she was understanding it right - most if not all Gods had once been mortals called to this place and sent down a long road to become what they are now. She’d wanted his words to ease her troubled thoughts, but they only made them worse, so many new questions now buzzing around in her head, and as much was communicated by an almost frantic gleam coming to her eyes.
“But… but why me?!” She began, defensive tone slowly seeping back into her voice in sync with a slowly arching tail, though not towards Oberon; more so towards this whole idea… The idea that some divine higher power thought fit to choose her, of all wolves, to become some God, when she couldn’t even become the mortal Queen of her own kingdom. “I’m- I’m-” She stammered exasperatedly, eyes turning upward as if searching for the right words, then ending with a frustrated paw stomp. “I’m probably the LEAST qualified for something like this! How could I become a God??”

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","ilostyou"] The female's disbelief was bittersweet to watch. It was clear she had a lot of baggage to deal with that was conflicting greatly with the reality she needed to accept, causing her a great deal of difficulty - that Oberon could only sit by and observe with a remorseful half-smile, unable to do more than feel sympathetic for her. He could not send her back - there was no leaving the god realm, even if a mortal were to die here before their full ascension. Their souls would move on to another place in the endless ether where physicality did not matter, and perhaps some would linger in the god realm as vengeful spirits, but once a soul had passed into the god realm, there was no turning back.
At times he felt it cruel of the higher powers to draw mortals in like this, stealing them from their lives and families, transplanting them into the realm without so much as a warning or a choice. But he knew that these mortals were so chosen because of the seed of godhood that was within them since before their birth, and it was only a matter of time before the god realm called them home. To their true home. Even if, after almost an eternity here, Oberon himself still sometimes felt like a foreigner, treading upon hostile lands.
He watched the female before him as she glared intensely at one of the rocks he had summoned, and though nothing happened visibly, he felt the tiniest spark of flame within that rock, like the bright flash of flint striking flint. Perhaps fire, he thought curiously, even as she stalked forward instead to touch that rock, verify that it was indeed a rock and not some sort of hallucination. It would suit her well, though.
"But... but why me?!" the female's tone was slipping back into hostility, and Oberon grimaced faintly. So much for the slight progress they had been making. "I'm probably the LEAST qualified for something like this! How could I become a God??"
Patiently, the Guide allowed her to breathe for a few seconds before speaking again. "It doesn't matter whether you think you are qualified or not. You are here, aren't you? The realm chose you knowing that when your time came, you would be able to do it. All that remains is for you to try." If he was to be absolutely truthful, Oberon didn't know exactly why some mortals were chosen above others. But what he did know was that having something to believe in was incredibly powerful, and if it helped to push this soul into her godhood, that was enough reason to justify his saying it.
