Sooner or later conflict is bound to arise. While most fights can be resolved by the players involved, staff have a system in place for fights that do not have a designated outcome. Note that this system is only used when the players involved cannot decide on a winner or would like to see how it might play out.
[attr="class","boopsie"]the system
When players wish to utilize the fighting system, one member should request staff moderation in the appropriate thread in the Service Center. A staff member will act as Judge and begin a new thread where the battle will take place. The staff member will outline the starting scores of both members and the challenger will be allowed to make their first challenge post. During this post they may not yet attack.
The challenged will then reply. During these first posts, either can have their wolf withdraw from the fight and give up, if they find the starting score is weighted too highly against them. If both members are willing to continue, then the challenged will be allowed to make the first attack. Rather than utilizing a system of dodges and blocks, we instead allow both members to attack and dodge as they please. Their posts will be judged from one (1) to five (5) based upon the realism of their actions.Example:
A wolf that leaps over a large cone of fire will score less points compared to a wolf that takes cover behind a nearby boulder. Both would score less points compared to a wolf with the power to redirect the fire or otherwise incapacitate it.
Both players will be allowed three turns (posts) after which the staff acting as judge will post the result of the battle. From there, both members will be allowed two posts each to wrap up the finish of the fight and the thread will be closed and marked as completed.Example Fight Thread:
1. Judge Posts (starting scores)
2. Wolf 1 Posts (may withdraw, otherwise puts forth challenge)
3. Wolf 2 (may withdraw, otherwise makes first attack)
4. Wolf 1 (first attack, end of first turn)
5. Wolf 2 (second attack)
6. Wolf 1 (second attack, end of second turn)
7. Wolf 2 (third attack)
8. Wolf 1 (third attack, end of third turn)
9. Judge Decision (winner declared based on scores)
10. Wolf 2 (resolution post)
11. Wolf 1(resolution post)
12. Wolf 2 Posts (wrap-up post)
13. Wolf 1 Posts (wrap-up post, final post)
During moderated fights, players should reply no later than five days after their partner's post to ensure the thread is swiftly completed. Players that fail to do so will have their fights forfeited and be declared the loser. Exceptions are made for those who post in the Absences board.
[attr="class","boopsie"]scoring points
Before a fight begins, the presiding judge will give each participant a starting score from one (1) to five (5) based on a number of factors including:
- power matchup
- territory familiarity
- health condition
Following that, each character is capable of scoring up to five (5) points per post, for a final score ranging from five (5) to twenty (20). Number of words written is not calculated into the final score and while both writers should strive to submit their best, quality will only affect a handful of points.
Ultimately, what counts the most is creativity and playing smart. And, of course, knowing how to use your power to your best benefit.
While staff suggests the final score difference be used as a way to judge injuries, we ultimately leave it up to the players what wounds they wish their wolves to come away with, if any.
