Fearful eyes darted in each direction as she looked for her husband. Mitis hadn’t seen Kicheko in at least a day.... or she thought it must have been a day. She didn’t honestly even recognize where she was. This didn’t look like the last place they had made camp after escaping the tyrannical royals. Had they taken him? Taken her here? This wasn’t their territory. At least... it hadn’t been when she left. Her fur was bushed out anxiously and nose close to the ground as she sniffed earnestly in a vain attempt to pick up some familiar scent. She smelled no one but herself, honestly. This whole place was off. The she-wolf hadn’t really been alone in a long time.
Lime eyes glanced upward at the dim canopy, not quite liking how dark it got here. The glowing crystals offset the darkness, but not enough to make her feel truly secure. Ears pinned, she began to waddle awkwardly onward through the forest with her nose straining. She was too afraid to call out for the man, unsure who might hear. What if the royals really HAD taken him??? What would she do? Mitis wasn’t a fighter. She wasn’t tough or even particularly smart. The only true knowledge she boasted was healing expertise that had improved the longer older and more experienced she got. All she was good for was kissing booboos in her mind. She had few other talents.
“Kicheko?!” she called hesitantly. She was so worried. She didn’t know where she was or where her mate was. She couldn’t figure out how she had gotten here. The plump she-wolf pushed through a particularly dense bush. Huffing and puffing, she called his name again softly in between sharp intakes of breath. The overweight female’s hindquarters got stuck. Grunting, she pulled hard in an effort to disentangle herself. Her efforts at first offerred little to no success. Then suddenly, total success. The sudden freeing of her rump sent her sprawling forward into a heap. Groaning, she laid there for a moment as she tried to decide what to do.

To say he didn't sleep well was an enormous understatement. He barely had a real sleep, really, it was classified as several naps at best. How could he when this whole situation seemed so fishy, and to make it even worse, his companion was still missing. They left home for a happier life together, and now they were separated in unknown territory. When he hadn't been napping, he had been walking who knows where and tending to his own basic biological needs. He wouldn't find Mitis if he was dead, now would he? He paid little thought to his interaction with Jyzara, for it couldn't immediately help him at the moment. He wasn't sure what was worse: the fact that they were separated in unknown regions, or the fact that said separation happened under unusual circumstances. Kicheko was not ill, he knew that, so why could he hardly remember the point that transitioned him into this land?
Whoever was behind this, if anyone, they had a lot of explaining to do. Kicheko paused to get a gander at his surroundings. The crystalline luminescent gave him vague reminding of an interesting place he once was. A place where he managed to feel himself grow closer to Mitis on a strange day. Optimism made an attempt to intervene, but he had nothing to say. It was difficult through his lingering confusion and overriding stress. Weaving through the foliage, he kept his eyes peeled, making sure to pay extra close attention given someone with his target's coloring could blend in said foliage with ease, especially in the more shadowy areas. It didn't help Mitis was on the shorter side. If anything were to give her away in this setting, visually, it would certainly be those vibrant eyes.
He just barely caught the noises of some sort of scuffling within the foliage, and for a moment, the lost canine pondered investigation. What were the chances of it being her? Well, he had no clue, because he knew nothing about the area. He had no clue how big it was or how dense the population of locals were. The difficulty to judge made him groan and throw his head back to release such frustration as a result. He might as well. If he ignored this detail and it was a mistake, it may as well be an even greater regret than what had eaten him alive for their first few weeks as renegades. Besides, if this was a threat waiting to sink its teeth into his throat, best be aware. He inches towards the general direction the sounds had been coming from (which had at this point silenced). Hackles rose tensely, but had they really ever been flat these past few hours? His head lowered, and his ears and eyes focused intensely. Though, the moment he caught a familiar scent as he moved, he had to do a double-take, just to be sure.

Groaning, she dragged her front end upward. Panting, she looked around with her tongue lolling out. The she-wolf needed to catch her breath. Some things never changed. Her hindquarters remained on the ground, forelegs splayed before her and head hung low as she scouted around the area. Breathing through her maw, she didn't quite notice the proximity of her partner. She had no idea he was so close by. Frustrated, she groaned again and closed her eyes, allowing her ears to pin to her head. For a moment she just listened to the ambient sounds of the forrest, the sound of insects and birds crying out... but nothing to make her think the man was here. "Kicheko?" she called again through her parted maw, still panting. The she-wolf dragged herself to her paws, panting softly. Shaking her coat, she kept walking. This time she was moving more slowly, not towards Kicheko, but more at a perpendicular angle. She was yet unaware of his presence and would remain so unless adequate noise or scent drew her attention. Her stomach grumbled irritably as she moved. She was growing hungry, to be honest. She hadn't attempted to hunt since she woke up. Her missing partner was her greatest concern. The dim light of a crystal up ahead was where she turned her path, hoping standing near to one would give her more illumination, perhaps offerring clues as to which direction she should go. Honestly, he took his time to double check the scent. Maybe triple check before proceeding. Not only did he have to just be sure, but also inhaling the scent of his spouse was naturally comforting. Once he had his head screwed on right, though, and encouraged by the assurance she had to be nearby, he moved with stretched, brisk steps.
It took effort, and it took time, but he finally caught actual sight of her when he noticed a mound of a dark shape moving at a pattern akin to the familiar waddling that would often take hold of her gait. "Mitis!" He couldn't contain himself. The moment he spotted what he was certain was the woman, his back legs launched himself forward, over a smaller patch of rough foliage. Perhaps it was even the fact that she wasn't quite headed towards him (nor directly away, really) that automatically had him screech the name with rushed excitement.
She seemed okay. There was more than just physical issues to worry about, though. If Kicheko felt as stressed and desperate as he was, then he could only imagine what someone like Mitis was dealing with. And the mystery of how they got here was still unsolved. Assuming he got close enough to Mitis, Kicheko would attempt to pull the shorter wolf towards his chest to press his cream-hued chin upon her.
Just last second did he realize how invasive such a thing was, startling even, considering he gave such minimal warning of his attempt, and there was a chance Mitis didn't even expect it was him or have the time to process his call to her. Though, he already acted, and he couldn't take it back.

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","morpheus"] His newest charge broke the pattern – no longer on the coastline, but deep in the underbrush of the Black Forest. Morpheus stepped carefully through the cramped foliage, ducking his head to avoid trailing branches, almost slinking as he passed beneath a particularly squat tree. His ears were pitched forward, attentive to the surrounding sounds. With so much new growth piled atop new, the scents that swamped his nostrils were a frustrating tangle of threads he didn’t have the patience to pluck through. But he knew she was somewhere near, in that way he knew the vague location of all his charges. And then he heard a pair of voices, calling back and forth – his crystalline eyes widened, and he picked up the pace, heading toward the nearest of the sounds. He had carefully scrambled over the roots of an ancient, leaning tree when he heard the second voice, a thrill of sweet anticipation threading through it. He leapt carefully from the last of the roots, landing upon the leaf-littered ground, and pushed through a final bush to find a reunion before his eyes. He watched the pair a moment, taking his time to pinpoint which was his. The female, for all that she was small, stumpy, more akin to an overgrown racoon than wolf, seemed to radiate a sense of vitality – but the male? Nothing. Morpheus tilted his head, considering, then turned his eyes back to the female. If he could not sense the male’s divinity, it might well be that he was beholden to a different Guide. He would still gladly offer his counsel to both, but he could only assist the male so much. After a few more seconds allowed to their reintroduction, he carefully cleared his throat, dropping his head into an elegant bow. “Hello,” he intoned, his voice the stuff of dreams, hazy and distant. “I am Morpheus, the God of Dreams. And I am sure you both have questions.”He did not want to impose, did not want to get in the way of their meeting – but he recognized the importance of his job, knew that he could not allow them to go ignorant into this new world. He only hoped they would not react so badly as some of the others had. Soon a familiar voice hit her and as soon as she waddled around to see the source, Kicheko was upon her. He embraced her in his way and she snuggled into his chest, breathing a sign of relief. At least she had found him. Things would be alright if she had him. Mitis wasn't alone. She didn't have long to linger in the feeling. Another voice broke through and her head jerked around to look at the source of the voice. Embarrassed, she sat back away from Kicheko to listen to what the male said. Mitis frowned, her heart, as always, on her sleeve. A god? Sure, she had heard of gods before... but was she truly in the presence of one? She had only met one other beast who called themself a god... and that was some time ago. Never the non-believer, she found she did have many a question. "Mr. Morpheus... it's nice to meet you. I'm Mitis and this is my husband Kicheko. Could you tell us where we are?" she asked hesitantly, voice kind but somewhat anxious. She wasn't terribly sure if they should trust the man, but what if he really was a god? And his voice did have an interesting quality to it. She glanced up at Kicheko, then back at Morpheus, then back and Kicheko again. She wanted to gauge both their expressions at the same time. Kicheko Faraja and Lirriel

The touch of Mitis assured him things were looking for the better. She was safe, he was safe, and they were together. Only when Mitis pulled away did Kicheko become aware of the deity before them. Dark eyes locked upon Morpheus, and he felt a twisting sense of uncertainty. God of Dreams. God was a new word to hear in regular conversation, though he had known the word prior. He kept in mind to add that one to his more regular vocabulary, tossing out a prior word he dared not utter, even in thought. Teeth pressed tightly against eachother as he listened to Mitis react with an unsurprisingly calm politeness.
He hardly felt calm at the moment, a mixed result of adrenaline and suspicion. Though, all previous interactions with a deity..a certain deity had been positive. If this was a God, though, it didn't take a genius to put logic first and decide not to act with aggression. He would aim to inch closer to Mitis, had their pelts not already been touching.
"It would be helpful if you could start with how we got here." Effort was made to dominate the need to be polite over the need to be demanding. Not to say Kicheko was a demanding guy, he simply felt impatient to get his answers. He was frustrated, confused, even a bit anxious. The fact that the event of arrival was so vague when he tried to recall it, it was unsettling, to put it kindly.
So long Mitis was here, though, he felt, eventually, he'd be able to get his bearings.

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","morpheus"] The pair were so close. Morpheus knew of lovers, of course. For all that his memories were lost to the winds of time, he retained some sense of knowledge those experiences had imparted. And so he knew of mates – but experience as one – that, he thought, was strangely absent. Some sense of loneliness trickled through him, to see them pressed so close together. Even with his beloved charges, there was something of a distance between them – as if his godhood was some unclimbable peak, with him perched atop it. He blinked idly, briefly submerged in the cold of water that was true solitude – unlike any other, without any past to stabilize him, keep him latched to the ground. So he floated, adrift in water that was also the sky, as if the world had turned upon its head. Trying to unwrap his own feelings, disentangle the quiet that had settled in his heart, he felt a dull ache bloom in his head – and it was echoed by a fainter, tighter pain that settled beneath his breast. Still, he had a job to do, and he forced himself upon it with a soft clearing of his throat, almost musical in the still air that followed the couples’ questions. “This is a land of transitions, a place where gods are birthed and raised – and that you are both here means that you shall both ascend. Together.” He paused, his mouth hard around the word. It pressed into the top of his mouth, threatened to cut the delicate flesh that lay between his fangs. But he allowed himself a small smile, aimed at the pair, meant to encourage and assure. “As for how you came to be here,” he considered, one ear flicking back briefly in concentration. “I do not know the mechanics of it myself. I just know the realm draws you here, plucks you from wherever you were, whatever you were doing. It seems to most easily grasp those in motion, but that is not always the case.” Something like regret in his voice, he added, “I am sorry I cannot offer further knowledge. But I can promise your mortal requirements will be met here, and there are others like you, seeking to become gods. You shall not lack in company.”He wanted to reassure them – though he had a sneaking suspicion that all the comfort they needed could be found in each other. And, again, his heart ached, a dull throb that nevertheless threatened to steal his breath away. For all that he appreciated company, their continuous, easy contact left him feeling adrift and isolated. More alone than if he had truly been by himself. Mitis listened carefully to what her husband and the horned man said. Could it be true that they were to become gods? She couldn’t imagine being like the diety she and her husband had met. It seemed so long ago now. Her ears perked as she continued to listen... then it hit her. The royals would never again hurt them. A smile split her face wide. Kicheko was the only person in the workd she couldn’t do without and now they were both free. ”Kicheko... we’re free. Finally, for real,” she said, turning to look up at him. She let her gaze linger for a moment before she turned to look at Morpheus again, still smiling. ”How do we become gods?” It seemed like something they needed to know. Her tail thumped rapidly as she waited for a response. She was too excited by the prospect of being truly free to think about whether it was all a hundred percent true. She just wanted to be free and able to live quietly with her partner. Life did not need to be spectacularly interesting to keep her attention. She was still grinning ear to ear like a puppy. Her mind raced with possibilities. She could see a life laying itself put before them and it made her shuffle her feet in excitement. Kicheko Faraja and Lirriel

The deity--Morpheus--he seemed genuine. How well could he rely on the keyword 'seemed', though? Everyone he trusted 'seemed' genuine, and a handful proved the opposite in the end. This information, though...these implications, these supposed facts...Something about it all made him feel physically chilled with uncertainty. What's the catch? Where's the discreet puppet strings in return for such promise of power? 'Who said I am seeking to become a God?' He noted to himself. He had enough trouble swallowing the fact he had been a King, even if for a short amount of time. Like he knew it would have been that short of a time, though.
But this was a deity before him. As far as he knew, no deity held malicious intentions. Or else, the world may as well end as a whole before this point in time. If what he and Mitis had potential to be here resembled anything like the deities he once knew, or even the godly wolf before him, it freaked him out if anything.
It seemed Mitis had a different pattern of thinking, though. An apparently eager optimism he failed to hold on to. It amazed him that she readily seemed to trust the revelation laid before them, when she was the one to speak out against maliciousness he failed to see before. He trusted her, and if she trusted this, well...
His mind went over the words of Morpheus before he felt a sudden sense of sharp fear at an idea he felt sick to imagine being reality. If he and Mitis, normal wolves, had such opportunities, and everyone else here (which was what he was assuming given the wording offered), then what of those with less than pure intentions? They wouldn't allow that--would they? His mind rushed as he debated on opening his mouth at all. He looked at the deity, then at Mitis. She seemed so excited about this, it upset him that he was instead veering towards fears at the back of his mind of disasters that could result from this whole thing. She was so certain their troubles were over in face of such information.
"Being a God---What..what does that do for us? What separates us, right now, from a God?"
