[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","neith"] Deep in the ancient, overgrown forest, Neith moved slowly. She slipped from shadow to shadow, violet eyes shining eerily in the gloom. She was deep in the tangled depths, where the only light cast came from the scattered crystals.
And yet, despite the closeness, despite the sheltering overhead – she still felt cautious, uncertain. It was the crystals, really. They grew as if weeds, sprouting from between roots, jutting out of hollows – the deeper she went, the more cropped up, and she was so alone she thought she might go nearly mad from the spectacle of them.
Then destroy them, hissed the shadow serpent in her ear. In the heavy darkness that blanketed her surroundings, it was nothing more than a disembodied voice, audible only to her ears, without even the heavy weight of its coiling muscle upon her back.
Oh, she thought, oh when she could truly summon it forward, when it could materialize and become corporal, black scales and white fangs and violet, violet eyes. Eyes that stained like blackberry blood.
No venom, though. It was her darkness manifested, yes, but she was the poison – a sweet toxin that would paralyze everything, paralyze everyone. Make them love only her, need only her – but then the thought was gone again, and the crystals were staring at her.
Like they knew her. Like they judged her.
She hated them so, so much.
“Go away,” she spat, girlish indignation spilling from between her jaws. Her creamy fur bristled, violet eyes narrowed in a challenging stare that she leveled on first one crystal and then another.

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","callisto"] Disintegration trailed after Callisto like a lost pup as she strode through the skyless forest. A muted hiss tugged on her hearing as her infant ability ate through ancient wood and stone, and she was almost completely comfortable with it, with what it could do. She hadn't been at first, but she learned to be. She also learned how to broaden her new ability's range a little beyond what she could naturally reach, and how to trigger it with the slightest of movements (a twitch of her lips, the furrowing of her brow). Soon she would learn how to utilize it to return home, but for now, it did a sufficient job of clearing up some space in the tangled depths if she was willing to wait a few seconds. She wasn't. Instead, she drove through it like something beyond a force of nature, wrenching forward until gnarled branches bore down on her no longer. Freed, the dark female took a good look around. “Oh,” she said softly. There stood a wolf, all ivory white and incandescent violet, caught in a deadlock with the forest’s native oddity. For a moment, she was familiar, but Callisto quickly noticed the distinct lack of spiraling horns and crystalline eyes and terrible magnificence that was characteristic of him. No, she wasn’t him, but something far more familiar. The soft hiss of complete and utter destruction heard only by her ears silenced itself, stubborn fragments of disintegration continuing the eat away at the world around her until it too died moments later. The annoyance felt by the fact that her destructive radiation had ceased without an explicit mental command was swept aside for later, when she would hone the treacherous ability for finer control. Her ear twitched, imperceptible in the gloom. The stranger had spoken. The rogue emerged from the darkness, features illuminated by the dim glow of the nearby crystals. She lowered onto her haunches, pink eyes trained on the stranger with all of the intensity of a severely overgrown pup. “You want the crystals to go away,” she asked, the barbarous nature of her voice blunted by her bemusement. A pause almost budged her tongue as she thought to ask “Why?” but she tucked the word away disinterestedly. Perhaps this strange wolf would answer that question without her urging, perhaps she wouldn’t. She found that she didn’t care either way-- it wasn’t her problem. Still, she remained in her sitting position and stared, awaiting the wolf’s response if she had any to offer. tags: Lirrielwords: 420 blaze it notes: callisto's here to stare at you too lmao-- hope you don't mind me throwing her in here! gonna go ahead and say that this is set further back in her timeline as well (before her magic effect and #ruin to be precise) since she should've already left the black forest by now [newclass=.callisto]height:400px;color:#E1DFD8;text-align:justify;padding:10px;width:440px;font-family:Open Sans;font-size:10px;overflow:auto;background:#000;opacity:.5[/newclass] [newclass=.callisto b]color:#d9cbdb;text-shadow:0px 0px 2px;font-family:montserrat;letter-spacing:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.callisto i]color:#fff; font: 11px Roboto; font-style: italic;[/newclass] [newclass=.callisto::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #fff; width:1px; [/newclass] [newclass=.callisto::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; height: 5px; background: #ccc; border: 3px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.callisto::-webkit-scrollbar-corner]background: #ccc; border: 2px solid #ccc;[/newclass]

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","neith"] The arrival of a stranger drew only a flick of Neith’s ears, her eyes kept locked stubbornly on a pearlescent crystal that radiated sickly light. And yet, had the other seen the whole of her face, she might have seen the flash of amusement that darkened Neith’s violet eyes, eyelashes fluttering in a pleased blink as she fought back a smile. Call and they will come, the snake murmured, with something like approval gliding silkily across her ears. And yet she knew to dally was to unwind her lie, allow the knot of deceit to loosen, draw apart. She had to keep it tight, held snug, until it was incapable of coming undone. So, in the flash of two heartbeats, she had jumped – the startled bound of a deer, as she whirled to face the speaker, eyes wide in youthful astonishment. “Oh!” she said, breathless and giddy – relief bleeding off the edges, as if she had imagined the newcomer some great bear or beast – something frightful and terrifying and grown on young wolves delved deep into their territory. And yet, it took only a moment for her to see the wolf’s absurd height, the flash of her pink eyes, nearly aglow in the dim lighting. And had Neith been capable of flushing, she would have – her manners reflected as such, something like bashfulness drawing her shoulders up, tensing her limbs. “Oh,” she said again, quieter. Oh, to be found so foolishly trying to fight the very crystals themselves. Shyly, not meeting the other’s eyes, she scratched one paw at the ground underneath, a shiver climbing up her spine as her claw scraped across a small stone resting in the dirt. “You heard?”She answered herself, without giving the black wolf time to speak. “Of course you did.” Something like a groan gushed from her lips, but there was a weary amusement that crossed her lips as she finally met the stranger’s eyes, as if inviting her to laugh at Neith’s foolishness. “Yes,” she said. “I mean, I know they can’t. But they’re so – disturbing.” She trembled, moreso for show than out of fear, though tension clung to her lips when she smiled again. “Like they look at you.”Which made her sound like a loon – but that was fine. This wolf had to think her as such. Harmless and air-headed and all youthful stupidity. Though Neith kept that expression of childlike sheepishness plastered across her face, her eyes were sharp, digging at the other’s dark pelt, trying to discern the slightest shift of expression, the smallest movement of her great bulk. Anything, really. Anything to reveal how she was reacting, so that Neith might rearrange her response accordingly. tags: Callistowords: 448 notes: sounds good! [googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","callisto"] The stranger sprang into the air with an exclamation of shock, movements like a startled doe's. And a humorous, almost derisive smile flew onto Callisto's lips at the apt comparison. The girl's manner was just as skittish, but not nearly as attentive--she hadn’t been paying any attention to her surroundings, after all. The surprise that inspired that little jump shifted into a sort of girlish bashfulness in a matter of moments as the rogue gazed on. Was this wolf embarrassed, to have gotten caught yelling at an inanimate object? She knew that she would've been, had it been her. But it hadn't, nor would it ever be. She would never allow herself to get swept into such vulnerability, where anyone could see her. To her satisfaction, the stranger explained the apparent standoff with the forest's crystals. The explanation had failed to make things any less fucking weird, but she found that she was more curious than anything else. “Well, what do they look like to you?” she asked. The other female was harmless, so she found no problem in rising to her full height and approaching. All it had taken was two nonchalant strides to almost close their distance. At this range, Callisto could see the delicate black patch that rested over one of those violet eyes just as clearly as the stranger could see her sardonic countenance. Her large head tilted away from the other female to level a vivid pink gaze on the nearest crystal. Had it been living, it might’ve flinched away from the intensity of her stare. At last, she said, “You said that they look. So, a face, perhaps? Or maybe a disembodied pair of eyes?” A bland amusement clung to her voice as she spoke, but the bottom of it held something entirely humorless. She lapsed into yet another pause before pinning her gaze on the stranger once again. “Or do you see nothing at all?” It was entirely possible that the female’s perception of the crystals wasn’t grounded in anything that could be interpreted by a sane mind. Maybe for her, they looked because they were. Callisto herself hadn’t seen anything in the glassy, glowing surface of the crystal after all, besides a reflection of her own face. And what a face that was, she thought with a fresh shot of humor. But then it occurred to her that perhaps the female was simply having a hard time coping with the oddities of the land. Had this wolf involuntarily teleported to this twisted land, just as she? At once her humor faded, her lips almost pulling themselves into a snarl. Fuck. She was getting far too comfortable with this land, to assume that another was insane for being disturbed by what should be impossible. Keenly aware of her company at that moment, she asked, “How long have you been here?” There, that ought to crack down on this wolf’s eccentricities completely. tags: Neith Zahraniwords: 493 notes: this is gross but i didnt want to keep you waiting any longer!! so sorry for the wait </3 [newclass=.callisto]height:400px;color:#E1DFD8;text-align:justify;padding:10px;width:440px;font-family:Open Sans;font-size:10px;overflow:auto;background:#000;opacity:.5[/newclass] [newclass=.callisto b]color:#d9cbdb;text-shadow:0px 0px 2px;font-family:montserrat;letter-spacing:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.callisto i]color:#fff; font: 11px Roboto; font-style: italic;[/newclass] [newclass=.callisto::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #fff; width:1px; [/newclass] [newclass=.callisto::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; height: 5px; background: #ccc; border: 3px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.callisto::-webkit-scrollbar-corner]background: #ccc; border: 2px solid #ccc;[/newclass]

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","neith"] The newcomer breathed arrogance. It was obvious – in the way she strode, in the way she watched. She had already dismissed Neith as harmless and stupid, a poor creature to be pitied and mocked. Not that Neith minded – that this wolf was so easily drawn into her little play meant the black was all the more egotistical. Moreso than Oberon, that was certain. Oberon – who had thought her a child to be guided, who had set aside her feelings as easily as an adult might bat away a child’s love. Fool Oberon, that he had not embraced her and yet set her free with the promise of godhood. Of course – that this wolf was here meant that she was made of the same mold. Neith did not sense divinity, but she was so dark and sharp that her power must be much the same. It made sense, given her own experiences: Oberon had been a stick-in-the-mud and had shown a fondness for moving clumps of dirt about. And she was black as pitch on the inside – and had the serpent – and the shadows called to her with their fluting voices. Still, that the wolf was willing to indulge her – Neith’s nose wrinkled, and she offered a half-smile at the other’s questions. She turned to regard the crystal that had so vexed her earlier. Yes, she had played up her silly reaction – but it did bite at her, that multi-faceted mineral, all smooth glass reflecting and refracting and bouncing and – and she did not know how to describe it, but it felt as she looked upon the reflection of a lake only to discover that it was a reflection of a deeper lake, and so on and so forth, so far down into an inky blackness. “No face. Not really anything but that reflective surface,” she answered. “But they watch. I don’t like it.” A shiver ran through her, to further impress upon the other the gravity of her words. She was skirting too close to the truth, and so she was glad when the other abruptly changed topic, drawing her gaze away from the crystalline formation at last. “Oh, a while,” she answered with a ready smile. “A moon, maybe more? But I’ve mostly stuck to the highlands – this is my first time down here. I don’t really like the closed space.” The trees were too tightly knit together, the overgrowth blocking out sky and sun and moon. And the shadows threatened to overwhelm her – which was wrong. She ruled them, their darkness, their shade – that these ancient trees should have such obstinate, thickly black shadows undermined her status as goddess. Not that she would reveal as much to the black female. She already had the advantage of size; let her wonder and worry over what Neith might conceal. tags: Callistowords: 469 notes: its cool have some garbage to go with yours :^) [newclass=.neith]max-height:400px;color:#E1DFD8;text-align:justify;padding:10px;width:440px;font-family:Open Sans;font-size:10px;overflow:auto;background:#000;opacity:.5[/newclass][newclass=.neith b]font-family:montserrat;font-weight:700;color:#ab87db;font-size:12px;[/newclass][newclass=.neith i]color:#fff; font: 11px Roboto; font-style: italic;[/newclass][newclass=.neith::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #fff; width:1px; [/newclass][newclass=.neith::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; height: 5px; background: #ccc; border: 3px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass][newclass=.neith::-webkit-scrollbar-corner]background: #ccc; border: 2px solid #ccc;[/newclass]
