Messy fur was dappled with warm sunlight and the slightly gray shades of brown, streaking through the bushes. Weaving around the bases of the large trees as she chased the rabbit in front of her. Leaves crunched underneath her paws, crackling as she whisked her tail around to hungrily glower at the small piece of prey that dared escape her. A snarl ripped through her throat as she lunged forward, only to stumble as a misplaced paw step sent her sprawling forward.
As her back collided the ground in an odd sort of somersault, she closed her eyes and in the next moment she was freefalling. Her stomach was in her throat, fear clogging in her nostrils as she flailed. The air whipped past her furiously, messing up her fur even farther as she fell from the sky. What the hell? What was going on? A frustrated scream ripped through her through as she fell, though her eyes widened as she saw the lake beneath her. Oh no no no!
Sweet Death! Something warm burned her way through her throat as she batted at the air frantically. As she made contact with the lake, a large freezing explosion of water erupted upwards as she belly-flopped. And ohmydeath it huuuurt. Everything was cold, even as she pulled her exhausted legs upwards with long strokes, her head emerging from the body of water. Inhaling the air greedily, Shizuko paddled her way over to the shore and tiredly dragged herself up the shore.
This was so weird. Falling from the sky? What kind of fantasy story was this?

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","morpheus"] Borealis Lake. Compared to the bottom of the valley, he found this location harder to place. There was a familiarity to it, yes, but it held not the same sense of safety the Cradle and Forest had filled his chest with. Perhaps it was the openness of it – aside from the copse of pines that sprinkled the edges of the lake, the space was almost entirely flat. Rocky, the going underfoot pebbled with stones long ago worn smooth. And again there were the crystals, nestled at the bottom of the lake. Always the crystals. Why were they so important, that each glimpse of one sparked a surge of interest? He was pondering it, desperately trying to summon some lost, forgotten memory – when suddenly there was a wolf. In the sky. The sudden eruption of movement in the sky was difficult to miss, but her scream was inescapable. It was the sharp, ringing shriek of a hare plucked from its burrow, and his muzzle – for the first time since he had awoken – wrinkled in distaste. His ears flattened against the curve of his skull, even as his eyes found and tracked her descent through the air. A cracking slap sprang at his ears as she touched down, plunging beneath the lake’s surface with an explosion of bubbles and waves, her voice swallowed by the drowning waters. Morpheus heaved a sigh as he pushed himself to his paws, padding toward the bank nearest where the wolf had landed. He stood there, a white statue upon the darkened shore, as she fought the waves and broke the surface once more, this time with her snout tipped toward the sky as she struggled for breath. He watched her approach the water’s edge, and as she stumbled upon dry land, he withdrew several steps back, unwilling to get wet himself. Water streamed from her coat in great, dripping streaks, and he watched her recover for several moments before seeking to draw her attention. “Hello,” he said. And then, because it seemed impolite to only greet her, he added still softer, almost underneath his breath, “Did you enjoy the trip?”In another’s mouth, it might have been a sarcastic quip, but he was dead serious. Or as close to it as someone like him could be, at any rate. Breathing in great gasping breaths of air was a gift that she had never really thought of. Oxygen. Sweet, sweet air. Panting loudly, she just laid against the shore of the lake with no intention of moving. At all. Shizuko was perfectly content to just lay there for the rest of eternity. "Hello."Swearing loudly, the brown wolf found herself rearing backwards in shock with no remembrance of ever getting to her paws. A purely instinctive reaction then? Shizuko shook her head, almost missing the soft question the other was giving her. "Did you enjoy the trip?" Um. What. Grey-flecked golden eyes stared incredulously at the starchly white coat of the being in front of her. He took the shape of another wolf, most definitely. But... What classified him as a being in her mind where the immense dark blue, kind of purple horns that spiralled away from his eyes into twisting bone. The brown wolf had to force herself to calm down as a rising sort of hysteria twisted her gut into anxiety-ridden frantic terror. What was a way to move this situation to where she wanted it? Shizuko didn't know, but this... this... was almost too much. "Did I enjoy my trip?" she echoed his question hollowly, still on the verge of cracking and transforming into a trembling visage of a mental break-down. Oh. Oh dear. He wasn't joking, was he? Shizuko could totally see it in his expression. He was completely, utterly serious. Shizuko couldn't help the slightly hysterical burble of laughter that escaped her at this. "Oh, I enjoyed it spectacularly." The sarcastic words dripped from her voice like water, though at the thought she remembered she was completely soaked through to the bone. Her ashy brown fur clung to her skinny form like random clumps of moss, a steady flow of water trickling through her skin and dripping onto the earth beneath her. Plus, she was freezing. "Where am I?" The most important part of this was figuring out where she was. Lirriel

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","morpheus"] Morpheus blinked at the female’s reaction, the explosive rear that sent water slinging off her in every direction. He took another step back, out of reach of the flying wetness, his face still pleasantly neutral. The curses that spilled from her maw did little to dissuade the placid quality that wreathed him like a secondary coat. Oh dear. He stood perfectly still as the frazzled wolf turned toward him, taking note of the shock that spread across her face. He thought he had begun to grasp how best to approach mortals – after all, he had left Pepper in a much calmer disposition than what he had first been greeted with. But perhaps he had overestimated how the others would react – or underestimated the courage that Pepper held, the adaptability that left her scared, yes, but still willing to learn. The bubble of laughter that burst from this newcomer’s mouth, edged with a feverish hysteria, only further confirmed his suspicions. “I’m sorry—“ he tried to say, weakly, softly, the words dying before they had scarcely punctured the air, overridden by the female’s own words. Oh dear. This might be his worst encounter of the three. Still, his rising fear that she would totally shatter beneath his gaze was softened when she lashed out at him with a stinging retort. He bore the sharp words willingly, his muzzle wrinkling with some sense of relief. Good, then her spirit had not totally deserted her. He was all too eager to hurry this conversation along before she lost her nerve. “The Borealis Lake,” he said. Then, more hesitantly, “I am Morpheus, He who Dreams.”Compared to his previous charges, this one looked like a drowned rat, and as his eyes roved her sodden form, he picked up on the minute tremors that shook her body. Cold – but of course a creature of flesh and blood was cold. “Do you need… help?”How he could help, he did not know. His dreams were not capable of healing, only of providing relief. And he did not how best to help a waterlogged wolf. There was… grooming – but the thought was discarded immediately. Perhaps a shallow den? It would remove her from the open elements, at least. But he was wary – the others had not needed him so immediately, so physically. Even the hunger within him was skittish, faced with options that made Morpheus uncomfortable. I do not like touch, he thought.
