[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","icarus"] Icarus didn’t even realize what was happening at first. He’d sunk his teeth securely into the meat of the great bear’s wrist, the chill of its flesh nipping at his fangs – and the female had come, to pluck out the god’s remaining eye, leaving him howling and twisting with pain – And then – And then something had picked him up, had thrown him like he was a bit of stripped pelt to be tossed around. He landed with all four legs braced wide, forepaws scrabbling desperately at the ice for purchase, digging up little rivulets in the surface as he fought against the momentum that carried him to the edge. His heart rolled upon itself, and a soft whoosh of air escaped his lungs, as he stopped a few steps from the absolute edge, the water lapping greedily at the platform’s lip. “Fuckin’ bear,” he growled, voice ragged with relief. He looked to the bear, considered charging it again, but, no – a harsh wind still whipped about it, keeping the wolves at bay. Icarus drew deep gulps of air, refreshing his lungs. His tongue flicked out across the side of his nose, wiping away the blood that clung there. And the bear continued to speak. That it could talk to them, that it stood there blinded with ice jutting from its back like the spines of a porcupine, with a great howling wind around it – how could it be anything but a god? And yet the knowledge only made his blood burn all the hotter. He peeled his black lips back from white teeth, flashing a hunter’s smile, as the bear intoned of their worth. What did it know? It must be absolutely mad, speaking of gods, of betters. There was no better than him, only his equals. If he bowed his head to anyone, it was out of due deference, not powerlessness. He stood waiting, body braced for the final push. And as soon as the wind fell, as soon as the bear spread its arms in welcome, Icarus charged forward. Three others ran with him, the black female hanging back. Then he could only focus upon the bear, upon its staggering height, how it blotted out the sun. And he leaped forward, aiming squarely for the center of its thick throat. The lifeblood gushed there, hot and heavy. And he would spill it or die trying. tags: Lirrielwords: 397 notes: a gross short post [newclass=.icarus]max-height:400px;color:#E1DFD8;text-align:justify;padding:10px;width:440px;font-family:Open Sans;font-size:10px;overflow:auto;background:#000;opacity:.5[/newclass] [newclass=.icarus b]color:#b84a00;text-shadow:0px 0px 2px;font-family:montserrat;letter-spacing:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.icarus i]color:#e07934; font: 11px Roboto; font-style: italic;[/newclass] [newclass=.icarus::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #fff; width:1px; [/newclass] [newclass=.icarus::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; height: 5px; background: #ccc; border: 3px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.icarus::-webkit-scrollbar-corner]background: #ccc; border: 2px solid #ccc;[/newclass]

[googlefont=Montserrat] [attr="class","hunt"] [attr="class", "godling"]Thalarctos Challenge Rating: Legendary HP: 0 / 150 Reward: 100 Evo Points + Ghostly Mutation [attr="class","hunt6"] Note: Blizzard has dissipated. Tamlin is currently regenerating at a speed of two health per round and will recover twice as fast as the other wolves. [attr="class","hunt5"] Given over to his powers completely, the bear rampaged out of control – and with the loss of his mind, he was suddenly lesser than he was before. An old, worn-out creature, nearing the end of its life. Without its sentience, it knew not that Pepper might try to slip beneath it – instead, the bear’s claw came crashing down on thick ice, slicing through nothing. And then a great wetness burst from his underside, steaming blood splattering the salt-and-pepper wolf that had torn his stomach open, splashing down onto the ice beneath. Compared to the chill of his fur, it was thick and hot, almost to the point of pain. The fallen god screamed, legs momentarily buckling with the unexpected strike. It could only fail weakly as the second came for it, only succeeding in clawing the ground useless before the next came, wounds knitting together as he leaped up and clamped upon the bear’s throat. This final bite proved too much for the beast, and as the third and fourth attackers leapt upon it, the creature sank downward, affording the wolf beneath only a few moments to scramble free of its great bulk, before it collapsed completely. It lay there, a soft breeze still faintly swirling around its body – and then the wind withdrew, the lake falling into serenity once more, all quiet except for the soft groaning of the ice beneath their paws. Without the bear’s powers to hold it together, the ice floes would eventually buckle and return to water beneath the blazing sun. The cold grasp of winter had gone. And something like divinity quietly flowed into each wolf, the last vestiges of the bear’s spirit imparting upon them something of its essence. OOC: wolf attack rolls. bear reaction rolls. eyy he's dead! all members who participated will receive the ghostly mutation; you are free to place this on an existing wolf or save it for another you create. check the appearances in additional info for more information on what it is and what it does! this thread will be moved to the archives on july 14th so get those wrap-up posts in! Pepper It was over, but there was no time to relish in the peace. Pepper had to basically shove against the buckling bear to gain enough leeway in order for her scrawny body to squeeze from beneath. It wouldn't of been a pleasant ending to the skeleton wolf's saga to go down the weight of this behemoth. Once out in the open again, skillful appendages crossed each-other to shift her body into a sharp pivot. She cared little about their success or the divinity that seeped past her skin in the next few moments; instead, the salt-pepper canine put all her attention on three specific beings - the wounded. Sure, they had all taken a relative beating, but Quartz and the two strangers had it the worst. Dull green irises focused on the obsidian female, confused momentarily by her actions until Pepper astonishingly witnessed skin begin to stitch itself together on the multi-colored male. When did this power come to pass?
It made sense, of course, coming from Quartz. It was still amazing to see none-the-less. Regardless, it was at least clear that they were hurting. She had great faith in this new ability that her friend exhibited, but the healing process seemed slow-moving. Thus is what put the jittery huntress in motion toward the trio, though she would wait until the onyx wolf finished what she was busy doing before taking those last few steps. After the fight with the boar, Quartz had proffered her a great kindness by cleansing her wounds. Pepper, albeit ten times more visibly nervous than what her companion had been, inched forward to conduct the same treatment. If allowed to do so, each rasp would be as gentle as physically possible. Only after this task was done (if successful in the first place) would the emaciated canine take a quick share of the deceased specter.
It was important to eat quickly, but that was no problem for the skinny female. Not only did she not need much, but her mind was busy being clustered by worry. Would Quartz and the rest be okay? Was Morpheus okay? He didn't answer her call... And she could smell a new scents in the air - sickly, sharp, and repelling smells that seemed to surround the whole area. There was too many to distinguish or count; it made her head pound even more. Pepper would be happy to get out of here as soon as possible.

Tamlin stood over the body of the great god, its blood dripping off his muzzle and the roar in his ears slowly subsiding. The warrior resisted the urge to spit at the corpse, for even dead gods ought to have some respect afforded them, and settled for licking its blood off his muzzle and tasting the salt and ichor that flowed within it. Oddly enough instead of drained, he felt rejuvenated like what was within him was being mended faster than normal. Well maybe a prayer wouldn't hurt here, so he sent one up focusing on the god he had met and the good hood inside him, that his body's natural ability to heal would be blessed and that his wounds would heal over thrice as strong as they normally would. Looking over his shoulder Tamlin rested his gaze on the wolves around him "So, what are you supposed to do with a dead God?" He rumbled, placing a paw on the bear's flank. If they could take trophies he had something in mind. ooc: Lirriel does what he does in the first paragraph count as using #bless to augment his natural healing abilities?

[googlefont="Lato:400i,400,900;"] [attr="class","juliecontainer"] [attr="class","juliebar"] [attr="class","julieimage"] [attr="class","julietags"] [ @tag ] [attr="class","juliewords"] [ 598 ] [attr="class","julietext"]It was evident that Caspian had severely underestimated the bear’s fighting capabilities, as, barely a moment after he had attempted to sink his teeth through the bear’s frigid pelt and into the tender flesh underneath, a sharp, intrusive pain forced him to let go with an instinctive cry.¬ Baring his fangs as his face twisted into a violent grimace, he limped away as best he could, all too aware of the throbbing, tender wounds that decorated his chin and chest. He had been lucky that the bear’s ice had just missed his neck and the important veins that ran through it, but all the injuries he suffered were dangerous all the same. Despite the cold air, Caspian could feel a warm liquid diffuse through his fur, and a woozy glance downwards confirmed that his white pelt was slowly being stained a deep crimson.
Then, before he had even realized, a dark-furred female wolf had approached him. Slowly but surely, she drew her muzzle closer to the jagged wound in his chest, and while Caspian would have normally told her off, he was in no state to start anymore fights, especially with an ally. Still, he watched with incredulous eyes as she moved to press her nose against his injuries, bracing himself as he waited for them to smart at her touch. Yet, even as he felt her applying firm pressure against his flesh, there was no sting, and, upon closer inspection, all of his injuries were starting to numb. “What the-” he breathed, craning his neck to get a better look at where his skin had seemingly knit back together. The only indication of him having suffered any injuries was the sticky blood around the area that was still in the process of cooling. “I- Thank you…” It was hardly the most eloquent response to the miracle he had just witnessed, but in his state of confusion, Caspian figured he would be forgiven.
Then, before he could demand an explanation as to what had just occurred, the spirit bear cried out once more. The garbled tongue was still as ghastly as before, but Caspian forced himself to listen carefully to the words that spilled from the creature’s mouth. The bear cried of gods and the unworthy, of things that Caspian was unable to comprehend no matter how he mulled it over in his head. The bear was crazy. It had to be absolutely off its rocker to be talking about myths and legends as if they were real, Caspian’s common sense informed him. And yet, had he not just experienced something supernatural himself? An act of healing that only a god would have been expected to pull off.
It appeared that he had been one of the few to be confused about this, as most of the other wolves sprang back into action. In a flash of deadly teeth, they took the bear down, tearing it open without a shred of mercy, and allowing the creature to take any answers it might have held to the grave. Dead animals didn’t speak, not even spirit bears, and the corner of Caspian’s mouth turned down as he realized he would need to ask his questions elsewhere. With the threat vanquished, he got to his paws, still shaky with adrenaline, and turned to leave. There was no need for him to stay, and as he entered the forest once more, he knew that it would be quite a while before he returned to the shores of the lake. It was unlikely that he would ever find true solace in it again. The bear screamed and fell to her companions’ attacks. The unnatural cold of the land seemed to fade, bringing with it the reminder of where, exactly, they were all standing. They’d have to vacate soon or they’d find themselves swimming to shore. An odd, almost empowering feeling threatened to overcome her. She shuddered as it coursed through her soul. It could only be a good thing, but the feeling was something beyond comprehension, and it would take some time to learn what this meant for her or her companions. She was thanked for the healing, and she swished her tail back and forth a couple times in response. He was welcome, but she needed to find—oh, there. She moved to the other who’d been hurt as badly as she and attempted the same, resting the end of her nose on his wounds if he’d let her and using her power to speed his healing. It hadn’t occurred to her that he might have done something similar for himself first. She was tired and hurt to the point where thinking at her usual level was almost impossible. It was over, though. The godbear was dead, and she felt something – someone – tending to her wounds. She tensed at that, but relaxed when she realized it was Pepper. She dipped her head gratefully at the other she-wolf, relieved to see her own injuries were minor. Everyone else was also reasonably healthy, it seemed. Good. She’d allow the other to work as long as she wished, maybe take a few bites of the bear – it’d be a sin to let the meat go to waste, right? – and then it’d be time to leave. She could see to accelerating her own healing once she’d found a safe den for the night. (( Tamlin – Healing attempt))
