Post by Sundew on Jul 9, 2018 2:10:22 GMT
Now that the big black wolf had shared his name, Sundew felt much more relaxed. A name didn't really mean anything - she had absolutely no clue who he was or even where he was from. Logically, there was no more reason to trust this Myrriah now than there had been five minutes ago. Logic wasn't really Sunny's strong suit. No, she preferred making decisions with her gut, and her gut told her that name - sharing was something that friends do. Her posture immediately relaxed, and she favored the black wolf with a joyful expression just for him. He was a little odd, that was for sure. She was convinced he was swaying a little, and his speech seemed slurred. Why had he cursed after sharing his name? Was that his last name? Did he just not like it? Sundew shrugged.
Pepper only cemented her dawning realization that everyone in this land was more than a little strange. Sunny did what she always did when she was confused. She laughed. "You are two are quite strange, did you know that? Everyone always says I'm strange, of course, but I never let it bother me! What do you mean about a curse? Is that a thing that everyone has? Someone told me I was cursed, but I thought he was just being mean. Maybe I shouldn't have called him cross-eyed?" Sundew paused for a mere second, thinking back on her earlier encounter. "No," she said definitively, "he really was cross-eyed, and I'm glad I told him."
Sundew leapt to her feet, tail flying like a flag of joy. She loved a good hunt, and with a big strong male like Myrriah to help, she bet they could take down some good prey. "Of course I'll help you!" The female wolf started to bound away as if she would set off on a hunt right at that very moment. She made it only a leap or two before she skidded to a halt, sending loose leaves and loam flying into the air. Sunny pivoted and leapt the distance back to the duo to land, trembling with anticipation, back before them. "You don't have to owe me anything. I'm not sure what you could do for me, little as you are! What's a hunt between friends?" She turned her pale, violet eyes on Myrriah. "I'm sure our jolly friend here feels just the same, don't you, Myrriah?"

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","pepper"] What did she do to deserve this? Thinking back the only thing that came to mind was accidentally bumping into Zora when she wasn't paying attention, but she had feverishly apologized afterward. Was that mistake enough to warrant a brute with permanent scowl-face and a female that acted younger than Pepper looked? Perhaps this was some really elaborate test, though the pondering pup doubted it. Morpheus would of warned her of such. Regardless, the only thing that mattered at the moment was putting some protein in her organic structure of skin and bones. Sundew seemed on-board to which the grateful canine gave a low bow of thanks. She wasn't sure what the now-named Myrriah would decide. Though he seemed to be in some sort of stupor, the scrawny youth couldn't disagree with the notion that his muscle would help. Especially with her... well being pretty useless to be honest. "Um... yeah, okay. Thank you both so much." The brute hadn't given his word yet, but Pepper had a feeling that the alabaster-furred canine held a higher rank within their short-termed alliance. The sooner they got going the better; in that aspect she agreed with Sundew. Thus, wanting to do her part, Pepper took a deep breath of the surrounding scents. Not the normal kind, no, instead the tiny seed of fear or paranoia that kept every creature alive. She had taken her time within this home she had made to sort them - there was a mother bird that worried over her newborn chicks, a wood mouse skittish with each step it took across a root, a rabbit nearing the end of its life but not ready to go. Countless unique combinations assaulted each nasal cavity, but, albeit slowly, they were sorted through until one was picked out. Her tiny nose pointed in the direction slightly behind and to the left of where Myrriah currently stood. "That way. A young doe was separated from her group and bull." Pepper could recognize the fear that settled in the deer's hearts - loneliness. It was sad, but one of them had to die if the other would live. The small, frail being would wait for one or both of the others to lead the way. This was mostly because her stubby legs would only hold all of them back if she led and also due to her natural submissiveness. Yet, when they did set-off, the staggering Pepper would do her best to at least stay within a couple yards of their heels. tags: Myrr Sundew words: 418 notes: gonna put up a hunting request c: [newclass=.pepper]max-height:400px;color:#E1DFD8;text-align:justify;padding:10px;width:440px;font-family:Open Sans;font-size:10px;overflow:auto;background:#000;opacity:.5[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper b]color:#843a30;text-shadow: 0px 0px 2px;font-family:montserrat;letter-spacing:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper i]color:#dc2f18; font: 11px Roboto; font-style: italic;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #fff; width:1px; [/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; height: 5px; background: #ccc; border: 3px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-corner]background: #ccc; border: 2px solid #ccc;[/newclass]

Barely hearing the words uttered by the two females, the brute scoffed with a snort. It was clear this ivory she-wolf was calling the shots and honestly he could do with something to eat. The day previous had left him empty for the amount of ill emotions that tore through him and the fact that he could barely keep a straight line. Thus a shrug followed after the bad mannered sound, "Sure...whatever.." Besides, there was something else bugging the male. A small inkling, like an itch that can't be reached, was tugging at his thoughts. But he had no clue what it was or how to make it stop. Justly he blamed the increasing whine in his ears, a noise that had steadily grown since the first vocals of the tiny whelp. At Scrawny-pup's words a single brow raised at how she knew such information about a doe. Sure, and lone deer, but pinning down the situation in which the creature was in was...odd. Not to mention suspicious. How was he to know that this was not just a trap? That he had been poisoned somehow and was now being lead to his impending doom by a dying child and her annoyingly happy counterpart? Oh, the wondrous oddities and inconveniences of life.

[googlefont=Montserrat] [attr="class","hunt"] [attr="class", "godling"]Doe Elk Challenge Rating: Normal HP: 50 / 50 Reward: 20 EVO Points [attr="class","hunt5"] The female had not even noticed when the group had left. She had been preoccupied with a particularly abundant source of berries, and, uninterested in sharing her find, had not had any qualms of stepping away from the others. Now, her muzzle stained dark with juice, her head twisted left and right, ears flicking nervously, as she attempted to catch some sound of their passage.
Normally, she would have relied on the scent of them – but there was also the smell of wolves on the wind, and she had learned at an early age that a wolf nearby never spelled a good end. Terror gripped her tight, her pounding and battering at her ribcage.
At last she let loose a low moan, an almost-rumble that sounded from deep in her chest. Then she waited, legs tensed in prepared flight.
There was no return call, but she had expected as much. She had to find her way back to the herd before the wolves found her. That was her only chance.
Tail flicking nervously, she took one step in the direction she smelled her family most strongly.

Post by Sundew on Jul 9, 2018 12:31:31 GMT
Sundew barely even noticed that the pup seemed to instinctually know the location of their intended prey. Truth be told, she didn't have the most experience hunting in areas with low visibility like this. On the tundra where she had grown up, large animals were stark against the horizon, making it difficult for either prey or predator to hide. There, wolves caught their prey not through sneaking up on it like a bunch of cats, but by persistently following their trail until at last, exhausted, the prey was weak and easy to run down. Sunny was under the impression that things would be different here, as they were in the frozen bogs that had served as the pack's wintering grounds last season. It had been a particularly cold year. Among the low, evergreen shrubs and tall grasses, every move Sundew made had seemed exponentially louder than any on the frozen tundra. The wolf cast an eye around the forest. All the trees were old, large enough to have shaded out the competition. There was little undergrowth except for a blanket of soft grass and the railing remnant of spring's flowers. Berry bushes formed occasional thickets, but few impediments would litter the ground. Still, Sundew moved forward with dramatic intent.
A far cry from her impulsive leaping of only minutes ago, the white wolf began to creep through the grasses. She slunk low to the ground, feeling the ends of the grass brush against her belly made her skin shiver as if they were the legs of insects. A sense of dread nearly overcame her at the possibility that even now some kind of creeping bug was making its way into her fur and burrowing down to her skin where it would eat her from the inside out. No. Sunny paused, giving her head a little shake. She must not allow herself to be distracted by daydreams. Over and over her pack members had lamented her lack of dedication, of patience, of the stillness of soul that brought fruit to skillful hunting. She would not embarrass herself this time, not in front of strangers.
Pepper's intuition, or whatever it was, proved true. Sundew had barely begun to stalk when she scented her prey on the wind. An elk. Good prey, but not one she incredibly familiar with. She was grateful for Myrr's bulk at her side. An elk wasn't as big as the caribou she was accustomed to, but an adult could be large enough to injure or even kill a lone wolf. Luckily Myr was a big boy, and Sunny was no dainty little thing herself. She crouched even lower as she edged around the nervous doe, knowing that her bright pelt put her at a distinct disadvantage. She had scented them, that much was clear, but from the wideness of her eyes and flaring of her nostrils, Sundew didn't think that she had targeted their exact location. Hopefully she would be able to flank the elk and drive it back toward Myrr. As the larger of the two adult wolves, he had the best chance of weighing the doe down with his weight as he leapt.

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","pepper"] By the time they had made it to the area in which the doe stood, Pepper was nearly out of breath. It was hard going any form of distance quickly with the stumps that served as her limbs. Still, she had done a good job of keeping up and was quick to take her place among the two "older" wolves. They didn't have time for talking or planning for the skittish elk seem to already suspect them. That was fine. She had been apart of hunts less organized and deadlier than this; it wouldn't be false to say the typically unnerved being was confident. Focus poured into her small body and washed away any doubts that might of been held previously. They couldn't fail. This time, it was life or death for Pepper - she just couldn't make it another day without eating. And she refused to bow before death yet. Youthful blue eyes watched as the black-white duo broke away and went toward their positions. Meanwhile, the small salt-pepper bundle stayed in place. Everything would be improvised from this point onward, thus she observed each movement with the intensity of a starving wolf. Action occurred quickly and was the signal Pepper had been waiting for. Sundew drove forth with an attempt to push the frightful doe toward Myrriah; smart. Things didn't always go as expected, however, and the pup was ready to patch-up any mistakes. If it all went to plan, then she would wait until the brute dug in his fangs to preform her own part. This would be triggered sooner, though, if the female elk attempted to bolt in an unfavorable direction. In either case, intangible tendrils would cross the distance in an instant gently embrace the prey. They couldn't be seen, felt, or detected in any way; more-or-less simply a figment of what Pepper perceived the roots of fear - her domain - to look like. Once connected to the victim, the skeletal whelp proceeded to take each terror away. Though there was no way the doe could hear or understand her from this distance, she softly murmured, "It's alright. Do not be afraid. I will help you cross peacefully into sleep." The young elk deserved as much. tags: Myrr Sundew words: 369 notes: here we go [newclass=.pepper]max-height:400px;color:#E1DFD8;text-align:justify;padding:10px;width:440px;font-family:Open Sans;font-size:10px;overflow:auto;background:#000;opacity:.5[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper b]color:#843a30;text-shadow: 0px 0px 2px;font-family:montserrat;letter-spacing:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper i]color:#dc2f18; font: 11px Roboto; font-style: italic;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #fff; width:1px; [/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; height: 5px; background: #ccc; border: 3px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-corner]background: #ccc; border: 2px solid #ccc;[/newclass]

As the trio moved closer to the indicated area, the male's nose tried in vain to pick out the scents from around him. There was a thick perfume of floral drenched in the muck of decaying loam, sprinkled in the flavors of rodents and birds of all colors. And to top it off was the heavy syrups of both females. How could he possibly pick out the smell of deer in all that? They had stopped. Why? Bronze eyes stared at the winter coated lass as she crept up and around. The rich hued orbs lifted and immediately picked out the chocolate and cream form of a cow elk. Now how could he have possibly missed that!? Instantly his stance changed, large head low and shoulders hunched. He had enough of his fogged wits to see the trick being played by the other and readied his legs for the second assault. All his senses pinned on the prey; he could see her muscles coiling beneath a thick coat, her heart beating like a drum of a thousand fears. In this moment all present was gravely aware of death watching from the sidelines, waiting with the same hungry grin that was plastered as a frown on Myrr's features. If the doe followed the feint and rushed towards him, the dog would aim for a solid bite to her breasts. Hopefully, if he landed right, iron like grip would hold his bulk in place and drag the creature to one side with both the weight of the male and the force of his charge. If anything, it would slow the forward progress of the prey and possibly allow Sundance- Sundrop...whatever her name was, to go for the hind.

But then, she would not have - she was too young to know wolves had a multitude of tricks, and so blinded by terror was she, she did not think twice about running from the white wolf that appeared behind her. Had she retained some sense of self, she might have recognized it as herding - but the truth came too late, when a dark shape suddenly lurched before her, causing her to recoil, rising on her hind legs for the briefest of moments before gravity - and the black wolf's bulk - brought her back to the ground. Something like a bleat broke from her throat, even as the blood of her breast speckled the male's face. She tried to dance back from him, away from those punishing, slicing fangs - but even as her heart thundered, some sense of tranquility began to take over her. Slowly, ever so slowly, she began not to fear the wolf that grasped her - the wolf that bounded behind her. For some unknowable reason, her terror, her panic, her prey-addled mind - all of it was falling away. There was still the pain of his fangs, but she was able to think more clearly, could only think that she must rest - must settle down. And there was no reason to fear the wolves. Why had she ever been terrified of them? Surely, they were there to help her, to lead her back to her herd. And the pain she felt? Disconnected from fear, she could only puzzle over it, her mind only able to conjure up absurdities. No explanations. Just thoughts so far removed from the situation that she was frozen in place. Post by Sundew on Jul 10, 2018 15:10:23 GMT
Everything was going swimmingly. Her sneaky plan had worked, sending the large, rather stupid elk doe straight into the jaws of the beast. Literally, not metaphorically. Myrr was hanging on to the elk's throat gamely, despite her struggles, when all of a sudden something to change. The elk's movements slowed. Her eyes stopped rolling in their sockets, the white disappearing. Sundew paused, puzzled. Normally prey lowed or fought to the very end. Except rabbits of course. Those silly little hoppers would just sit and wait for a predator to snatch them up. Still, the elk had definitely calmed down, almost supernaturally so. Sundew allowed herself a small chuckle. Wasn't everything supernatural here? It was the realm of godlings. One of the other wolves must have developed the seed of power that grew in their hearts until they could control prey. That was a pretty impressive talent, but Sundew couldn't help wishing they had controlled the elk before she had spent all that effort stalking through an unfamiliar environment. She was never one to look a gift elk in the mouth, so she began to move around to the doe's side, keep ing a careful eye out for any flailing hooves that might crack her skull. There was nothing. The doe seemed not only unafraid but utterly content with her fate. Sundew eyed the elk. The summer had been a good one, and the doe's belly was fat with grass and berries. She was young; her meat would be sweet. Eager, now, for the taste of blood, she lunged toward the doe's soft belly, knowing that it brought her perilously close to the elk's hind feet. Still, with Myrr slowly strangling her and her unusual calm, it seemed unlikely that she would choose now to flail. The white wolf slashed out with her teeth, hoping to taste the sweet saltiness of blood, the rich succulence of fat. Was there anything better than taking down prey with friends? Sure, she barely knew Myrr and Pepper, but that didn't mean they weren't friends. Joy suffused her being, not only at the thought that she had made two new friends, but also that she would be able to save the pup's life. Her friend was starving; this elk would truly be a magnificent gift. 382 WORDS FOR Myrr AND Pepper ― this is gross but so is my headache.

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","pepper"] It was working. Pepper could feel the tether of this single emotion connection the small predator to its prey. But that wasn't all she felt. Spiny thorns of sharp fear crept down the pup's throat until its vine twisted every petite organ inside. The icy tendrils were overwhelming; they hitched the already rapid breath coming from the scrawny being as well as knocked the tense stance from under her. Buckled on the ground, Pepper could feel the threat of tears make good on their promise and begin spilling over. Though no pain broke her skin, it truly felt like she was dying. What a horrible feeling. She wanted nothing more than to shove it away, but, even still, the budding divine did everything in her power to maintain the connection. Even though her heart felt full of fear already, she would continue to take. Though her blue gaze was now shut tight against the world, she still reached out with words. "It'll...be over quickly. Do not...be afraid. I won't let you down." They were pitiful strings of noise coming from a quivering creature, yet powerful none-the-less. Pepper prayed the experience would be over soon for both of their sakes. The young doe deserved this peaceful ending. tags: Myrr Sundew words: 206 notes: --- [newclass=.pepper]max-height:400px;color:#E1DFD8;text-align:justify;padding:10px;width:440px;font-family:Open Sans;font-size:10px;overflow:auto;background:#000;opacity:.5[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper b]color:#843a30;text-shadow: 0px 0px 2px;font-family:montserrat;letter-spacing:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper i]color:#dc2f18; font: 11px Roboto; font-style: italic;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #fff; width:1px; [/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; height: 5px; background: #ccc; border: 3px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-corner]background: #ccc; border: 2px solid #ccc;[/newclass]
