[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","pepper"] Contempt still seem to hang thickly within the salty air, but at least a fight had been avoided for now. Pepper gave a nudge to the obsidian female's fore, the only thing that was within her reach, in an attempt to gather Quartz's attention away from the brute. They could all settle things when this disease was over and Myrr no longer cackled like a rabid hyena. In fact, the salt-pepper pup felt that getting rid of this ailment should be their priority. Though it wasn't violent in nature, she had discovered first-hand how dangerous it could be - the sooner it was gone the better. Not that she would voice her opinions openly. As much as Pepper trusted the duo, there was still the thorns of self-doubt that wrapped tightly around her tongue. So, instead, the youth-trapped canine replied, "I would love to go back home, but I don't want to disturb you if you're doing something important..."She didn't like the idea of leaving Quartz again. Though the huntress could certainly take care of herself, she couldn't help but worry when her friend wasn't near. Still, if Quartz decided to stay, then Pepper wouldn't argue. It wasn't within her nature to stir conflict. "Oh, and that's Myrriah." It was an afterthought. Mostly a subject to pull attention away from her own nervous shuffling. Perhaps the onyx female would be more open to meeting Sundew - the other that had aided her. tags: @quartz Myrr words: 241 notes: --- [newclass=.pepper]max-height:400px;color:#E1DFD8;text-align:justify;padding:10px;width:440px;font-family:Open Sans;font-size:10px;overflow:auto;background:#000;opacity:.5[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper b]color:#843a30;text-shadow: 0px 0px 2px;font-family:montserrat;letter-spacing:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper i]color:#dc2f18; font: 11px Roboto; font-style: italic;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #fff; width:1px; [/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; height: 5px; background: #ccc; border: 3px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-corner]background: #ccc; border: 2px solid #ccc;[/newclass]

It took all of his clouded beiing to regain full composure. At least, enough to no longer be chortling like the insane. There was an attempt to stand but drunken legs only buckled in the most undignified way and Myrr was once more sprawled on the cold sand. There he stayed as dark eyes blinked from the sting of the salty spray, trying to focus on the two females. Funny, all the dogs he'd met had been woman. Was this place filled with ladies? That was an interesting thought and one he doubted. It didn't make sense for all the wolves present to be collected into one gender while he was the only one out. Then again... A hard shake to his fogged head was given before a cough. After all that laughing a throbbing headache was settling in the fore of his skull. "I vote for going back... This place smells and my head is booming... Or maybe that's the waves..." And then he heard his name spoken by the runt. "What? What about me?"

Pepper nudged her, and she sighed. She was trying, she really was. She couldn’t help it if this male was impossible. She hoped for her own sake as well as her friend’s that she’d been right about his cursed mind and that he actually was somewhat decent without…this. She glanced over to him, watching his sorry attempt to stand. Hmph…he was going to need help getting to wherever they were going, wasn’t he? This day kept getting better and better.
Pepper stated that she’d love to go back home, but didn’t want to disturb her if she was doing anything important. She was, but it wasn’t anything that couldn’t be put off for a bit. What would be the harm in coming back to this later? The male – Myrriah, she’d called him – seemed to second her wishes, apparently hating the beach. Well, that just made her want to stay, but her friendship with Pepper was worth far more to her than her comfort.
“I can work on this another day,” she assured the “pup”. “Did you want to lead the way?”

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","pepper"] "Nothing about you, Myrr. Just your name." Pepper's youthful voice assured back to the brute at his raised concerns. There was no need for there to be a misunderstanding now when everything seemed to be smoothing out. Though it was a shame that whatever Quartz had been doing got interrupted - that certainly hadn't been her intent. She couldn't guess what it was, even with the hint of small stones being lined out, but the frail being had no doubt it was important. In any case, Pepper was preparing to take her place in the rear when the call for leadership rang. The canine wasn't comfortable with the role, as probably seen in the way small paws fiddled with the restless sand, but she also didn't want to let anyone down. Torn between two paths, all that she could manage was a brisk nod of agreement. It wasn't that she doubted her ability to simply retrace their steps, but more like the task wasn't fit for her submissive nature. Still, stubby paws stiffly brought the salt-pepper pup forward and to the front of the trio. She would wait for everyone to get on their paws, mostly Myrriah, before setting back toward the way they came. The beach was decently far from where they typically set-up in the Cradle so it would be another lengthy journey. For the beginning portion, however, Pepper kept mostly silent - toiling within her own head. One might of been surprised when her voice suddenly picked up again, "Hey, Quartz, maybe next time you could tell me before you leave?"That didn't sound proper even to her own tiny ears. Flustered, words were quickly added, "I mean, um, not that you have to. Just so... you know..." Her vocals died down to silence once more. At this point in particular, Pepper really loathed being stuck as a pup. tags: @quartz Myrr words: 310 notes: nervous pupper [newclass=.pepper]max-height:400px;color:#E1DFD8;text-align:justify;padding:10px;width:440px;font-family:Open Sans;font-size:10px;overflow:auto;background:#000;opacity:.5[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper b]color:#843a30;text-shadow: 0px 0px 2px;font-family:montserrat;letter-spacing:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper i]color:#dc2f18; font: 11px Roboto; font-style: italic;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #fff; width:1px; [/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; height: 5px; background: #ccc; border: 3px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-corner]background: #ccc; border: 2px solid #ccc;[/newclass]

Finally able to come to a sitting posture, Myrr shook his head yet again. The rhythmic pounding of the waves was a twin beat to the throbbing in his stuffy head. Why did this have to happen? Why did he have to follow the pup out here to find this female that was not as decent as one might think. She surely seemed to help get the brute back to his irked personality despite the loud humor of previous. Though, how did he know she was so..up tight about him? Perhaps she had said something that had been lost earlier. Or maybe it was the way she held herself. Whatever it was, the male took to the back of the line once he could keep a straight course. He didn't want to give the black Quartz further reason to dislike him and didn't want to have someone rear end him because he tripped. Unless directly addressed, the brute kept his tongue as he listened with some haze to the conversation between friends. Maybe this female could help find the pup's parents. If she even had parents. That would be a relief; he wouldn't have to stress over her anymore.

She seemed to make her friend uncomfortable. Maybe she should have led? She wasn’t sure about turning her back to the male, though, and Pepper did know the cradle better than she did. Quartz was fairly certain she wouldn’t have gotten them lost on the way, but this was just easier, at least in her mind.
Unfortunately, the male seemed intent on taking up the rear. Whatever, there was an odd comfort in having herself between Pepper and the one she perceived as a possible danger, whatever the skinny wolf thought of her friend. She kept an eye and an ear out for him, though, ready to react should he try anything malicious. Maybe there was no need, but she hadn’t survived this long by trusting blindly, and the male had given her no reason to think he was dependable.
Things had been quiet, so Quartz was startled when Pepper spoke. The other female told her to inform her next time she left, and she found her fur bristling. She’d done nothing wrong by coming here, and she was about to state as much when Pepper amended her words. With a sigh, Quartz forced her fur to lie flat. Of course Pepper hadn’t meant anything nasty. This whole day was just getting to her. The situation itself was getting to her, really.
“I suppose staying put would be smart, until these curses fall apart.”

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","pepper"] "I just... worry a lot." Maybe Pepper didn't even have the right to such an emotion. She had known Quartz for a decent amount of time now, but such a fact didn't give her automatic ground for this concern. Even so, the emaciated creature couldn't help it. Her nerves were already frayed and the not-so-distant encounter with the divine bear had completely crushed any idea of this being a safe domain. As if that wasn't enough, curses were making everything even harder. She had little notion of who to turn to in these times if not the obsidian huntress. Morpheus was dependable, yes, but the dream-walker was often busy with his other charges. A sigh parted the thin, black lips the pup adorned; it was a very grown-up sound coming from one that looked youthful. For as much as she was growing in divinity, Pepper still didn't feel any different from when she first arrived. She was every bit the lonely coward as she had been, or at least if felt that way to her. Young blue eyes peeked backward toward the dark duo following. She wanted to both make-sure Quartz wasn't angry with her as well as check-up on the stumbling brute. "Is everyone doing okay?" There could be a deeper question prickling behind those quivered words, but Pepper only expected a basic response. These two were her friends after all, and if either of them were struggling - mentally or physically - they wouldn't be abandoned. tags: @quartz Myrr words: 246 notes: --- [newclass=.pepper]max-height:400px;color:#E1DFD8;text-align:justify;padding:10px;width:440px;font-family:Open Sans;font-size:10px;overflow:auto;background:#000;opacity:.5[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper b]color:#843a30;text-shadow: 0px 0px 2px;font-family:montserrat;letter-spacing:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper i]color:#dc2f18; font: 11px Roboto; font-style: italic;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #fff; width:1px; [/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; height: 5px; background: #ccc; border: 3px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-corner]background: #ccc; border: 2px solid #ccc;[/newclass]

The conversation, however little it was, seemed to get gears into motion. Even through the fog a survivalist's brain went to work dissecting the tones, the hidden unsaid beneath the vaguely spoken. One seemed irritated while the other unnerved, and yet both the same. Both trying to find meaning in this mess of a hell that all woke up in. An endless nightmare with cryptic whispers of promise; when did it end? The pup's question brought the brute from his thoughts and set his eyes blinking as he tried to make sense of her words. Was he alright? "Yeah, Scrap." Gruff voice sniffed before adding in a more placid tine, "Just thinking, is all." Curses. The older female had previously mentioned curse. Rightly so. His fuddled mind, Quartz's perpetual singing, this pup's...otherworldly intellect. How many others had been affected by such wretched things? How could he stop it? Why did he want to stop it?

Quartz nodded as Pepper spoke. She understood that, truly, and she would endeavor to remain in the cradle for most of the remaining time it took her to reach godhood. If she ended up remaining full time, though, that was her choice, and there were some things that were just easier in a more open or barren landscape. She couldn’t say she never worried for the other wolf, or any of their group. There were even a couple wolves outside their group that earned a measure of her respect and the protective instinct that came with it. She would never dream of asking any of them to let her know when or where they were going…
But then, she could protect herself and trust that they would do the same, normally. Pepper’s curse meant she was far too vulnerable for anyone’s liking, and the salt-and-pepper wolf had always seemed the fearful sort.
Pepper sighed and then asked how they were doing. Quartz’s ear twitched at the male’s response. He could think? Maybe normally… She swore mentally, reminding herself that his curse seemed to have incapacitated his mind. If that was true, it wasn’t his fault he was the way he was, no matter how hard he may be to deal with. And he wasn’t being bad right now, was he?
“I’ll be all right. It’s just a bad night.”
((I am so sorry about her.))

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","pepper"] By the time they had made it back among the crowd of snowdrops, Pepper was experiencing throbbing pain. For every step they took it was three for her tiny limbs - not to mention this pup-sized body also came with less muscle and smaller lungs. It usually wouldn't be long 'till they reached the familiar portion of the Cradle, but the salt-pepper being had slowed her pace considerably. Deep breaths attempted to fill her burning chest with oxygen whilst she also couldn't keep her tongue from lolling out. Not only had this journey proven unneeded, it also seem to cast the onyx duo into a bad mood. Pepper didn't want to disturb them anymore with prodding, thus she did her best to simply keep as quiet as possible while she stumbled forward. It was times like these that she wished her domain encompassed more than the terrible emotion of fear. Maybe then she could help the wolves she cared about. Currently, the frail female's only hope was that she hadn't thrown a wrench into her close friendship with Quartz. It had been foolish to ask about being alerted next time the huntress left; her friend had every right to reject the idea and do whatever she pleased. Still, as bad as Pepper felt, she wouldn't take it back even if she could. She couldn't last being alone - be it in this youthful form or not. Weighted down with more than simple exhaustion, each step seemed twice as heavy. Blue eyes squinted toward the night-wrapped distance toward what should of been a familiar sight. Funny, there seemed to be more trees than she remembered... were they moving? And then she passed out. tags: @quartz Myrr words: 280 notes: add a bit of excitement and forced interaction between Quartz and Myrr <3 [newclass=.pepper]max-height:400px;color:#E1DFD8;text-align:justify;padding:10px;width:440px;font-family:Open Sans;font-size:10px;overflow:auto;background:#000;opacity:.5[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper b]color:#843a30;text-shadow: 0px 0px 2px;font-family:montserrat;letter-spacing:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper i]color:#dc2f18; font: 11px Roboto; font-style: italic;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #fff; width:1px; [/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; height: 5px; background: #ccc; border: 3px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-corner]background: #ccc; border: 2px solid #ccc;[/newclass]
