It was strange, these inklings that stirred in the back of his mind. How much he hated being so...addle brained. Maybe in his normal state of being the male could dissect them more acutely. As it was, they remained distant theories of attained information. Something he could see but not touch, taste or hear. He understood the dark coated female was made uncomfortable by his presence. Not uncommon. And the pup was not entirely as she appeared. And that all three of them seemed to be not only affected by these 'curses' but the greater calling that had dropped them all here. What was that exactly? Bronze eyes blinked to come back to focus on the now only to find they had...stopped? "Scrap?" The pup was motionless and laying in a tiny heap. "Hey, runt!?" Now the brute was filled with panic; he didn't know what to do or what had actually happened. Everything had been fine just moments ago. Right? Had he honestly been that distracted and lost some sort of cue? Whether noticed by the onyx Quartz, large paws planted around the tiny form as frosted muzzle nudged the tiny frame. "Hey, Pepper, what's up? Come on, runt, wake up!" If anything else, it was clear the concern on his features for the small life. Why did he have to be such a butt? Why hadn't he tried to learn how to take care of others? He was useless...

Pepper’s breathing changed as they walked. Quartz stared down at her, torn between wanting to trust that her friend would tell her if something was wrong and attempting some kind of healing anyway. She looked…well…like she’d had better times. Maybe they should stop? But Pepper wasn’t stopping. Maybe she just needed to get to her nest and rest for a while? Just how active had she been today? Then Pepper just collapsed, eliciting a whine from Quartz. The male started panicking then, checking on her and then nudging at her, trying to urge her to her feet. She watched him for a moment, hoping his attention would revive her, but she couldn’t just stay still and let him panic forever, and she definitely couldn’t leave Pepper like that when some of her powers related to healing. In fact, why hadn’t she used them before? She’d been so worked up by their collective bad time that she hadn’t noticed the present, she supposed, and it hadn’t occurred to her to use her power to enhance the little one’s abilities until just now. Well, she had all night to berate herself for her carelessness. Right now she had to act. She stepped forward, getting probably too close to the male than was comfortable for either of them. Right now, that didn’t matter. The only thing that mattered was getting Pepper back on her feet and then back to her nest. She bent her nose down to the not-really-pup, pressing it lightly against her ribs. Was she breathing? Was it enough? She wasn’t sure what specific boost her friend needed and she doubted Pepper could tell her…better try everything she could think of until something worked. She started with the other female’s lungs, attempting to improve their function. Breathing was the most vital thing, after all. ((Attempting an adapt-boosted improve of Pepper’s lungs, because I know doctor stuff! XD))

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","pepper"] The world outside of this restful blackness that encompassed Pepper was like a distant memory. Nothing pierced the inky shadows determined to keep the small being comatose and undisturbed. The brute's concerned voice nor touch fazed her expressionless features. Not even Quartz's comforting energy seem to ruffle a response. It wasn't a pleasant situation by any means, but it wasn't dire. Her flank rose and fell in a slow rhythm - taking deeper and fuller breaths now thanks to the life-giver's aid. Pepper wasn't in any danger of death, however, it also didn't seem like she was stirring either. The most likely cause of this state was ample amounts of exhaustion mixed with stress; not to mention she had been pushed to her limits earlier today while siphoning fear from that doe elk. The salt-pepper bundle was completely out of energy both mentally and physically. Her body, and divinity, demanded a recharge due to this overexertion. Thus, despite the pitch duo's efforts, Pepper's consciousness refused to resurface. Instead her body merely stayed limp in the awkward position she had fallen into while walking. With her emaciated figure laid still like it was, one could fully see how frail the youth-cursed wolf was in these times. tags: @quartz Myrr words: 204 notes: let it continue! The panic, however extreme, seemed to clear the fog from his mind. AT least, enough that Myrriah could finally see what was happening. As Quartz practically shoved him aside and started her own nudging of the pup, bronze eyes finally understood. This "pup" was not truly a pup, but an adult wolf trapped in the body of a child by the same curse that addled his thoughts. She was sickly thin, as was gathered from there first encounter, and was in dire need of rest. The other female was likewise cursed but with what he couldn't tell. She just carried the same taint as the rest. There was also another, stronger blemish on her soul. Again shared by the others, though its face was known as Healing. Myrriah could see the healing boost she was trying on the limp Pepper, the slow recharge taking place. But would it be enough? "She's so weak..." She wouldn't be able to walk even after recouping. There had to be a safe place around here to rest the night out. The male suddenly left the two females, eyes darting around them, before his gruff voice picked up. "She needs to rest. Keep doing whatever your doing; I'll find a place to sleep." And then his paws took him deeper into the unknown surroundings.

Well, she was breathing better…but she still wasn’t waking. Quartz searched her mind, trying to figure out some way – any way – of magically making this better. She was becoming a god, wasn’t she? She should be able to do this effortlessly! Maybe she should call on the gods? But if one of them had done this…she didn’t know. Her guide wasn’t Pepper’s. What if he refused to help? What if there was nothing they could do, either? She knew Oberon to be a master of earth…where was the healing ability in that? She could try to contact Morpheus, but would he even come to her call? It would be for Pepper’s benefit, but would he be aware of that to start? Only one thing was certain in this world – Quartz was going to find the wolf responsible and she was going to make them pay, god or otherwise. A comment from the male brought her back to reality. Somehow, he seemed more lucid in this moment. Well, it was good that he truly cared about their companion. Before she could say anything, he was off, looking for a temporary nest for them for the night. Ugh…but it couldn’t be helped. Their own nests were deeper in the cradle, and carrying Pepper that distance could be bad for her. It was better to find a good place nearby and wait this out. She simply nodded as the male headed off, unable to think of the words in time before he disappeared. Then, with nothing else to do to distract herself from her worry, she monitored Pepper’s health, just in case she needed some other boost.

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","pepper"] Though the mortal realm might of been festering with worry, Pepper was safe within her own pitch slumber. Within its inky embrace she felt at peace. No longer did she have to feel the pain that strained her pup-sized muscles nor hold back a grimace when drums seem to pound inside her ears. It had been a hard day for sure, one of the toughest since she had arrived, but the emaciated creature was finally getting a break. Anxiety, nervousness, and terror did not command the poised youth while she slept - these emotions had recently bowed to her will upon the slipping of her consciousness. She wasn't sure if it had something to do with Morpheus and his command of dreams or, perhaps, the female's own power. In either case, it left Pepper not wishing to stir. But it wasn't her decision. If she had been more mortal, less inclined to the fears of her companions, then maybe her tiny figure would of simply kept still. That was no longer the world she lived in, however. Quartz's warmth, the onyx huntress' own divinity, plucked the tendrils awake and beckoned their attention with her concern. The fear of death, of loneliness, of loss... Primal paranoia that sizzled just below the skin - sharp and nearby. It was enough to drag Pepper from her previously complete submersion. Yet, it was Myrriah's distant horror that forced the salt-pepper pup to crack open her gaze. His fears were deeper than she imagined. Her sense had been dulled upon drinking in so much earlier, but now each intangible tendril sought hungrily. Each prey and predator leaked with their own unique musk; some were sickeningly sharp while others almost sweet and accepting. Wrinkles formed on Pepper's snout whilst blue irises peeked open the rest of the way. Everything throbbed, but she was awake - albeit still laying down in a scrawny heap. tags: @quartz Myrr words: 309 notes: we have consciousness [newclass=.pepper]max-height:400px;color:#E1DFD8;text-align:justify;padding:10px;width:440px;font-family:Open Sans;font-size:10px;overflow:auto;background:#000;opacity:.5[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper b]color:#843a30;text-shadow: 0px 0px 2px;font-family:montserrat;letter-spacing:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper i]color:#dc2f18; font: 11px Roboto; font-style: italic;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #fff; width:1px; [/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; height: 5px; background: #ccc; border: 3px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-corner]background: #ccc; border: 2px solid #ccc;[/newclass]

It didn't take the brute long to find a good place. A large oak had fallen on its side not too long ago and brought with its death a large portion of the earth. Beneath its many toes still clinging to the damp soil was a dip large enough for at least two wolves. It would do for now. As he turned from his investigation of the hallow something caught his attention. Something small and delicious. Granted they had hunted the large cow elk early that morning it was possible that the tiny frame of his companion would need more energy. And the equally tiny mole would be a nice, plump snack that he buried back in the ground once dispatching it. Locating the two females was easy enough as he hadn't traveled far from them. "How is she?" The concern was still as present as ever as frosted snout dipped to lightly graze the not-pup's spine. Then Bronze eyes meet blue. "Pepper?"

The salt-and-pepper she-wolf stirred and then opened her eyes. Quartz sagged in relief and gave her a light nudge, hoping to help her wake. That had been a worrisome few moments, and she still wasn’t entirely convinced her friend would be okay. Maybe she should just stay put and guard the other for a while? She’d never be able to forgive herself if something happened…
The male returned and asked after their companion. “She hasn’t gone – she’s holding on.” She stepped back half a pace to give him room, though she would keep an eye on him just I case. It did speak volumes to his character that he was so worried for Pepper, but she hadn’t quite gotten over his earlier behavior. Not yet.
“She needs to rest. Have you found a nest?” She looked behind the male, scanning the landscape in the hopes of seeing some possibilities from here. Of course, he’d have a better idea of what would make a good shelter since he’d seen everything she could see up close.

[googlefont=Roboto][googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Open+Sans] [attr="class","pepper"] It took a bit of time for Pepper to gather her bearings - everything seemed fuzzy. They had went to find Quartz, assured she was alright, and the trio had headed back home to the Cradle. Speaking of which, it seemed she was sprawled out among the closed snowdrops. Confusion wriggled within the youth-trapped wolf's mind for a few more moments, as made apparent from the way her face scrunched, before memory served. Ah, right, she had fainted. Even now it was tempting to simply succumb to the enticing slumber, but her divinity refused to be quelled. Already golden blood washed through her veins - dispelling weakness that once would have brought Pepper to the ground. In many ways she was close to full godhood herself, yet it still felt so distant. Like she had barely changed at all. Attention shifted from her troubled, jumbled thoughts to the 'older' duo as they emitted concern. Such care over her well-being made the female's heart pain. It was an incredible feeling to know that others truly wanted the scrawny being to keep going - even more-so coming from these two. "...Sorry." Apologizing was her first instinct, and quickly after was followed by an attempt to stand. Pepper didn't want to be a burden, but her body was at odds with her wishes. Any attempt to control her knotted muscles were rejected. Still, the pup's voice tried to assure, "I'll be alright...just give me a minute."tags: @quartz Myrr words: 238 notes: --- [newclass=.pepper]max-height:400px;color:#E1DFD8;text-align:justify;padding:10px;width:440px;font-family:Open Sans;font-size:10px;overflow:auto;background:#000;opacity:.5[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper b]color:#843a30;text-shadow: 0px 0px 2px;font-family:montserrat;letter-spacing:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper i]color:#dc2f18; font: 11px Roboto; font-style: italic;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #fff; width:1px; [/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; height: 5px; background: #ccc; border: 3px solid #f0f0f0;[/newclass] [newclass=.pepper::-webkit-scrollbar-corner]background: #ccc; border: 2px solid #ccc;[/newclass]

"Yes, its just back there." though where 'there' was exactly was not given as the male didn't motion and stayed with his head close to the waking pup. There was sudden relief to see her stir before her small voice whispered out. Perhaps even an audibly sigh parted the males drawn lips before his brow knotted once more. Pepper's failed attempt to move caused the brute to nearly jump on her. "Hey, hey! It's fine, Scrap. No need to go pushing yourself any further." His attention flicked to the equally dark hued female for a second, "Com'on, I'll carry her." And unless protested by either female Myrriah's maw gently settled around the pup's shoulders and attempted to lift her from the ground. If Pepper did exactly as all pups should and simply hold still then it would be easy. If she squirmed then he might not even pick her more than an inch from the soil. Either way, he'd lead the way back to the small dip and either set the tiny body down or wait for the pup to get comfortable before large paws uncovered the meager meal. Of course, the hollow could only fit two wolves snugly but the frosted male had no intentions of lounging inside. He'd keep his bulk at the opening and guard the other two. It was just how he was.
